INTRODUCTION
HILEVO TABLET contains Levosulpiride which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotic drugs. It is used in the treatment of depression and schizophrenia in adults.
Depression is a mood disorder characterized by persistent feeling of sadness, loss of interest, feeling guilty or worthless, attention impairment, lack of energy, suicidal thoughts and slow or abnormal physical movements.
Schizophrenia is a serious mental health disorder in which the individual interprets the reality in an abnormal way. It affects the thinking and behaviour of the person and causes symptoms such as long-lasting delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, irrelevant speech, agitation, slow movements, unusual body postures and lack of interest/pleasure.
Before taking HILEVO TABLET inform your doctor if you have any kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have epilepsy, any bleeding or any blockage or tear in the gut, mania or bipolar disorder (manic depression).
HILEVO TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having cancer or tumours in the body. Do not take HILEVO TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects of taking HILEVO TABLET are sleepiness, tiredness and dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect bothers you.

It is used in adults to treat:
- Depression
- Schizophrenia
HOW HILEVO TABLET WORKS
HILEVO TABLET is an antipsychotic medicine. It acts by increasing the levels of certain chemical messengers (such as serotonin) in the brain that can stabilize mood and mental health. As a result, it improves your mood and reduces the signs of depression. It can also control abnormal thoughts and behaviours and improves thinking abilities, behaviour and body movements.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take HILEVO TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking HILEVO TABLET unless your doctor advice you to stop.
SIDE EFFECTS OF HILEVO TABLET
COMMON

- vertigo (spinning sensation)
RARE
- irregular heart rhythm
Stop taking HILEVO TABLET and inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects such as:
- signs of Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (such as high fever, rigid muscles, mood swings, fast or irregular heartbeat, changes in blood pressure, increased sweating)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

PREGNANCY
HILEVO TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may harm the growing baby. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
BREASTFEEDING
HILEVO TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel drowsy after taking HILEVO TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking HILEVO TABLET, as it could make you feel drowsier.
KIDNEY
HILEVO TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, consult with your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take HILEVO TABLET if you are allergic to Levosulpiride.
HEART DISEASE
HILEVO TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as cardiac insufficiency, prolong QT interval). Therefore, consult with your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
HILEVO TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have pheochromocytoma (tumours of the adrenal gland)
- have epilepsy (fits)
- have prolactinoma (a non-cancerous tumour of pituitary gland)
- have breast cancer
- have mania (elevated mood)
- have manic depression (alternative episodes of excitement and sadness)
Before taking HILEVO TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have or had a previous history of stroke or problems in blood circulation
- have bloody stools or bleeding in the gut
- have blockage or tear in the intestines
Use in pediatrics:
HILEVO TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
HILEVO TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug – Drug Interactions:
Before taking HILEVO TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- levodopa, ropinirole (medicines used to treat Parkinsonism)
- medicines used to treat high blood pressure (such as propranolol, atenolol, amlodipine, diltiazem, clonidine, ramipril, azilsartan)
- medicines used to treat irregular heartbeat (such as digitalis, quinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol)
- medicines that can remove potassium from the body such as diuretics (Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
- amphotericin B (a medicine used to treat fungal infection)
- laxatives (used to treat constipation) Ex. lactulose, calcium dobesilate
- corticosteroids (used to treat pain and inflammation) Ex. prednisolone, dexamethasone, hydrocortisone
- tetracosectides (a diagnostic agent used for screening problems of adrenal gland)
- medicines used to treat severe tics (such as pimozide)
- medicine used to treat mental illness or depression (such as haloperidol, lithium, imipramine, thioridazine, sulpiride)
- methadone (a medicine used to treat drug addiction)
- other medicines used to treat stomach disorders (such as cisapride, aluminium hydroxide, sucralfate)
- erythromycin (a medicine used to treat bacterial infections)
- halofantrine (a medicine used to treat malaria)
- pentamidine (a medicine used to treat pneumonia)
- medicines used to treat anxiety (such as diazepam, clonazepam, pentobarbital, phenobarbital)
- narcotic analgesics (used for pain relief) Ex. morphine, fentanyl, pethidine
- medicines used to treat allergic reactions (Ex. cetirizine, levocetirizine)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more HILEVO TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage might include extrapyramidal disturbances (such as involuntary muscle contraction, tremors, muscles stiffness, involuntary facial movements and inability to sit still) and sleep disorders.
