INTRODUCTION

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is a combination of Minoxidil and Aminexil which belongs to the group of medicines called Vasodilating agents. It is used to treat alopecia androgenetica (male pattern baldness).

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use in patients having high blood pressure, hair loss due to drug treatment, total baldness, complete loss of body hair, shaved scalp, scalp diseases, unhealthy scalp and taking treatment for cancer or loss of iron.

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION should be used with caution in those who have heart diseases such as abnormal heart rhythms or rate and chest pain.

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION should not be used in pregnant and breast-feeding women. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents aged below 18 years.    

The most common side effects of using HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION are headache, itching or dermatitis and unusual hair growth. Consult your doctor if any of these worsen or doesn’t improve.

HOW HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION WORKS

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION helps in the treatment of alopecia where Minoxidil is thought to work by increasing the blood flow to the hair follicles on your scalp. Aminexil helps in the treatment of hair loss by promoting hair growth for those having the condition of alopecia. It increases the blood circulation to hair follicles which triggers an increase in hair growth and also prevents the build-up of collagen around hair shaft and hardening of the shaft.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always apply HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION as directed by your physician. Make sure that your hair and scalp are completely dry before applying HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION. Avoid applying HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION around your eyes, including eyelids, nose and mouth. Always wash your hands, thoroughly after application and if you accidentally apply HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION to other parts of your body other than the scalp, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION for you according to your age and disease condition.   

SIDE EFFECTS OF HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION

COMMON

  • headache
  • rash, itching or dermatitis
  • unusual hair growth (including growth of facial hair in women)

UNCOMMON

  • nausea
  • change in hair texture or colour may occur
  • scalp irritation (redness, dryness, flaky skin)
  • acne like or itchy rash, bleeding, blistering or ulceration
  • temporary hair loss may occur

RARE

Stop using HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION and inform your doctor immediately of you experience any of the following side effects:

  • chest pain
  • difficulty in swallowing or breathing due to swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat
  • allergic reactions presenting as throat tightness or swollen face, skin redness or itching, persistent local redness or rash   
  • low blood pressure
  • fast heartbeat, increased awareness of the heartbeat
  • faintness or dizziness
  • swollen hands or feet, shortness of breath
  • sudden weight gain

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Stick to simple meals while using this medicine. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.  

Headache:

Try to take rest and don’t involve yourself in exertive activities. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. If headache does not improve, consult your doctor.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before using it.

BREASTFEEDING

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or low blood pressure after using HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION.

ALLERGY

Do not use HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION if you are allergic to Minoxidil or Aminexil.

HEART DISEASE

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION should be used with caution in patients who have abnormal heart rhythms or rate, chest pain or circulation disorders. Consult your doctor before using it.

OTHERS

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use if you:

  • have high blood pressure
  • have hair loss due to drug treatment
  • have total baldness or complete loss of all body hair
  • have any condition that affects your scalp, including sunburn and psoriasis
  • have shaved scalp
  • have unhealthy scalp
  • have dressing or bandage on your scalp
  • have sudden or unexpected hair loss
  • are taking treatment for cancer or loss of iron
  • are malnourished and have poor hygiene
  • are above 49 years of age

Use in paediatrics:

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age) as the safety and effectiveness is not established. Consult your doctor before using it.

 Use in geriatrics:

HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION is not recommended for use in patients (aged 65 years and above) as the safety and effectiveness is not established. Consult your doctor before using it.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug–Drug Interactions:

Before using HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Hydralazine (used to treat high blood pressure)
  • dithranol (used to treat chronic plaque psoriasis)
  • tretinoin (medicines used to treat acne or other skin disorders)
  • corticosteroids such as prednisone, cortisone (used to treat inflammation)
  • petrolatum (used to treat excessive skin dryness)

Overdosage:

It is unlikely to use an overdose of HAIRJOY 5% SOLUTION. If you or anyone else accidentally ingest the medicine by mistake consult your doctor immediately or go to the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms include sodium and water retention, slow heart rate and low blood pressure.
