Talk to your doctor before taking GLICLAPACK MV, if you:

  • are allergic to Gliclazide, Metformin and Voglibose or to any of its ingredients
  • have kidney or liver or heart problems
  • suffer from Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • drink a lot of alcohol
  • have Inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulcerations or partial intestinal obstructions
  • have Gastro-Intestinal disorders
  • GLICLAPACK MV should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

  • Avoid driving and using machines since GLICLAPACK MV may affect your ability to drive or use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • other antidiabetic drug or insulin
  • salicylic acid preparations
  • fibrate derivatives
  • antibiotics (e.g. sulphonamides or clarithromycin)
  • captopril or enalapril, used to treat high blood pressure or heart failure
  • miconazole, fluconazole, used to treat fungal infections
  • H2 receptor antagonists, used to treat ulcers in the stomach or duodenum
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors, used to treat depression
  • medicines reducing inflammation (corticosteroids)
  • intravenous salbutamol and terbutaline, used to treat asthma
  • danazol, used to treat breast disorders, heavy menstrual bleeding and endometriosis
  • warfarin which reduce blood clotting
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow this medicine whole with small amount of water
  • Never crush or chew this medicine
  • The dose is determined by the doctor, depending on your blood and urine sugar levels and associated disease conditions

If you take more GLICLAPACK MV

  • If you take too much GLICLAPACK MV call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital right away

If you forget to take GLICLAPACK MV

  • If you miss a dose of GLICLAPACK MV resume dosing according to schedule. Do not take double dose for forgotten dose

If you stop taking GLICLAPACK MV

  • Do not stop taking this tablet before consulting your doctor

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Gliclazide:

  • abnormal liver function, which can cause yellow skin and eyes
  • skin reactions such as rash, redness, itching, hives
  • angioedema (rapid swelling of tissues such as eyelids, face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat that may result in breathing difficulty)

Metformin:

  • lactic acidosis where there is a buildup of an acid in the blood that can cause death

 

Gliclazide:

  • stomach pain or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhoea and constipation

Metformin:

  • gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea, loose stools, abdominal pain, constipation, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite

Voglibose:

  • soft stools or diarrhoea, flatulence, bloating, abdominal pain or discomfort, abdominal fullness
  • rise in liver enzymes
  • nausea, vomiting, dizziness.
  • endocrine and/or metabolic disorders

Metformin:

  • low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)

Voglibose:

  • rash and pruritus
  • headache
  • anemia, thrombocytopenia (decrease in platelet count in blood)

Voglibose:

  • numbness, edema of face, blurred vision, hot flushes, malaise, weakness
  • hyperkalemia (high potassium levels in blood)
  • decreased HDL cholesterol
  • increased perspiration
