INTRODUCTION

GERIPOD contains silodosin which belongs to the group of medicines called selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men. Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland in men. Symptoms of Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) may include difficulty in urination, urinary frequency and an inability to complete bladder emptying.

Silodosin blocks the alpha-1 adrenoreceptors present in tissues of human prostate and bladder and relax the smooth muscle in these tissues, resulting in improvement of symptoms of BPH. The side effect occurs most commonly while taking this medicine is an orgasm with reduced or no semen. This side effect is reversible with discontinuation of the product. Silodosin can cause postural hypotension, with or without dizziness, so do not drive, operating machinery, or perform any hazardous tasks while taking this medicine if you feel so.

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are suffering from any kidney disease or liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your medical condition and response to treatment. To get the most benefit, try taking this medication regularly with the same meal each day.
