What is FULTERM 5mg Tablet used for?

FULTERM 5mg Tablet, also known as Allyloestrenol and Allyl estrenol, is used in women for prevention of:

  • Threatened miscarriage or abortion;
  • Intra uterine growth retardation (IUGR);
  • Habitual abortion;
  • Threatened premature labour;
  • Failure of nidation (initial formation of embryo).

FULTERM 5mg Tablet is used in men for benign prostatic hyperplasia (non-cancerous increase in the size of prostate).

FULTERM 5mg Tablet may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does FULTERM 5mg Tablet work?

FULTERM 5mg Tablet belongs to a class of medicines known as progesterones. Progesterones are one of the hormones in our body which help to maintain pregnancy. FULTERM 5mg Tablet acts by:

  • Increasing the placental progesterone production;
  • Stimulating syncytiotrophoblast enzymatic activity (helps in implantation);
  • Stimulating production of Endogenous HCG, HPL, placental hormones, and enzymes;
  • Decreasing myometrial sensitivity (prevents contraction of uterus muscles);
  • Increasing utero-placental (between the uterus and placenta) blood flow. 

How to take FULTERM 5mg Tablet?

  • The dosage of oral tablet of FULTERM 5mg Tablet depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take FULTERM 5mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
  • FULTERM 5mg Tablet should be taken with or without food. Do not chew or break modified-release tablets, as this will affect the way the medicine inside them is released.
  • FULTERM 5mg Tablet is not advised to be taken by children younger than 16 years of age.
  • Do not discontinue FULTERM 5mg Tablet without consulting a doctor.
  • If you miss a dose of FULTERM 5mg Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
  • FULTERM 5mg Tablet is to be used specifically in pregnant women. FULTERM 5mg Tablet should be discontinued after delivery.
