Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as,

  • tizanidine used to treat muscle spasms
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as selegiline
  • alosetron used to treat chronic irritable bowel syndrome
  • ramelteon used to treat insomnia
  • mexiletine used to treat problems with heart rhythm
  • triptans used to treat migraine headache
  • medicines used to treat mood disorders, including tricyclics, lithium, SSRIs, SNRIs, or antipsychotics such as benzodiazepines, thioridazine, pimozide, clozapine
  • tramadol used to reduce pain
  • used to reduce anxiety, stress, emotional upset, or seizures; helps you sleep; helps with alcohol withdrawal; reduces restlessness; and relaxes muscles
  • methadone, used to relieve pain or to help with addiction
  • theophylline, used to treat lung problems
  • warfarin and other drugs used to prevent blood clots
  • diuretics to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, or swelling

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the tablets with water
  • This medicine should not be crushed or chewed
  • It may be taken with or without food
  • The recommended starting dose is 100mg at bedtime, with weekly increases of 50mg, not to exceed 300mg per day

If you take more FREXT CR

  • If you take more FREXT CR, talk to a doctor or go to the nearest hospital straight away

If you forget to take FREXT CR

  • If you miss a dose of FREXT CR, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses of FREXT CR at the same time

If you stop taking FREXT CR

  • Do not stop taking FREXT CR without first talking to your healthcare provider
  • Stopping FREXT CR may cause serious symptoms, including: anxiety, irritability, high or low mood, feeling restless or changes in sleep habits, headache, sweating, nausea, dizziness, electric shock-like sensations, shaking, confusion

SERIOUS

COMMON

  • depression or other serious mental illnesses are suicidal thoughts or actions
  • serotonin syndrome marked by agitation, hallucinations, changes in mental status, coordination problems or muscle twitching, racing heartbeat, high or low blood pressure, sweating or fever, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, muscle rigidity
  • visual problems such as eye pain, changes in vision
  • severe allergic reactions such as trouble in breathing, swelling of the face, tongue, eyes, or mouth, rash, itchy welts (hives) or blisters, alone or with fever or joint pain
  • abnormal bleeding
  • seizures or convulsions
  • manic episodes such as greatly increased energy, severe trouble sleeping, racing thoughts, reckless behavior
  • changes in appetite or weight
  • low sodium levels in the blood marked by headache, weakness or feeling unsteady, confusion, problems concentrating or thinking, or memory problems in elderly patients
