Fol XT Tablet contain active ingredients like Calcium L-Methyltetrahydrofolate, Mecobalamin and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. Calcium L-Methyltetrahydrofolate is the active form of folic acid used by your body. It is proven to lower levels of homocysteine (an amino acid linked to pregnancy complications). It is needed to form healthy cells, especially red blood cells and to treat or prevent low folate levels which lead to certain types of anaemia.
Mecobalamin is a form of vitamin B12 which is important for the brain and nerves, and for the production of red blood cells. It is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency and also sometimes used in people with pernicious anaemia, diabetes, and other conditions. Mecobalamin deficiency is linked with increased risk of intrauterine growth retardation, abnormal embryo-foetal brain development, cleft palate and metabolic syndromes.
Pyridoxine is the active form of vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 may play a role in the prevention of pre-eclampsia, where the mother’s blood pressure is high with large amounts of protein in the urine or other organ dysfunction, and in babies being born too early (preterm birth). Vitamin B6 may be helpful for reducing nausea in pregnancy.
