INTRODUCTION

FLUTIMAC CREAM contains Fluticasone Furoate which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids (glucocorticoids). It is used to treat inflamed skin, redness and itching in several skin problems not caused by germs and responsive to corticosteroids such as eczema, dermatitis, or insect bites.

FLUTIMAC CREAM is not recommended for use in patients having other skin problems such as acne, severe flushing of skin on and around your nose (rosacea), spotty red rash around your mouth (perioral dermatitis), itching around your back passage or private parts, infected skin, which is not being treated, and itchy skin which is not inflamed.

Before using FLUTIMAC CREAM inform your doctor if you have broken or damaged skin, chronic leg ulcer, psoriasis, or you need to use FLUTIMAC CREAM on face. FLUTIMAC CREAM should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

FLUTIMAC CREAM is not recommended for use in infants below 3 months of age and should be used with caution in children below 12 years of age. Ask for the advice of your child’s doctor before using FLUTIMAC CREAM for your child.

Avoid smoking or going near a naked flame while using FLUTIMAC CREAM as this poses a risk of severe burns. The most common side effects of using FLUTIMAC CREAM include irritation or itching. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsen or doesn’t improve.

HOW FLUTIMAC CREAM WORKS

FLUTIMAC CREAM causes vasoconstriction (constriction of blood vessels) and has an anti-inflammatory activity. It directly decreases the cells that cause inflammation such as eosinophils, monocytes, mast cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Therefore, helping in reducing the inflammation and redness.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always use FLUTIMAC CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Dry the infected part of the skin before using FLUTIMAC CREAM. Wash your hands before and after using this medicine. Do not let FLUTIMAC CREAM go into your eye and do not apply on mucous membranes. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration, and frequency of the medicine for you depending on your existing conditions, weight and age.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Itchy skin:

Hot water makes your skin irritated, so avoid taking hot showers. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. To soothe and hydrate the irritated skin, apply moisturizers. Contact your doctor if itching worsens.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

FLUTIMAC CREAM should be used with caution in pregnant women only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the foetus. Contact your doctor before using.

BREASTFEEDING

FLUTIMAC CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the child. Contact your doctor before using.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

FLUTIMAC CREAM is unlikely to affect your ability to drive and use machines.

ALLERGY

Do not use FLUTIMAC CREAM if you are allergic to Fluticasone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

FLUTIMAC CREAM is not recommended for use if you have:

  • skin problems such as acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, itching around your back or private parts, or itchy skin that is not inflamed
  • infected skin (which requires treatment)

Before using FLUTIMAC CREAM tell your doctor if you have:

  • broken or damaged skin
  • to apply to a large surface area.
  • psoriasis, your doctor will carry regular check up
  • chronic leg ulcer as the risk of local reaction or infection may increase
  • to apply near eyes or on eyelids
  • to apply to thin skin such as the face

Use in Paediatrics:

FLUTIMAC CREAM is not recommended for use in infants below 3 months of age and should be used with caution in children below 12 years of age. Ask for the advice of your child’s doctor before using it for your child.

Use in Geriatrics:

FLUTIMAC CREAM can be used in elderly patients. Consult with your doctor before using.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

Before using FLUTIMAC CREAM, tell your doctor if you are taking, or have recently taken any of the following medicines:

  • medicines used to treat HIV (Ex. ritonavir, cobicistat)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else apply too much or have accidental ingestion and systemic exposure of FLUTIMAC CREAM, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital as it can make you ill.

Can FLUTIMAC CREAM be applied on face?

You should only apply FLUTIMAC CREAM to your face if your doctor tells you to. FLUTIMAC CREAM should not be used for too long as the skin on your face thins easily. Do not let the ointment get into your eyes as cataracts or glaucoma may be caused if the ointment repeatedly enters the eye. Contact your doctor before using FLUTIMAC CREAM.

Can I stop using FLUTIMAC CREAM on my own if I start to feel better?

Do not stop using FLUTIMAC CREAM until and unless your doctor asks you to. It is important that FLUTIMAC CREAM is not stopped suddenly as this may relapse your present condition or make it worse. Ask for your doctor’s advice if you wish to discontinue using FLUTIMAC CREAM.
