FLUOXEE 60MG contains Fluoxetine which belongs to the group of medicines called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat major depressive episodes and obsessive-compulsive disorder (a mental disorder in which a person feels the need to perform certain routines repeatedly) in adults. It can also be used to treat moderate to severe major depressive disorder in children aged 8 years or over, in combination with other psychological medicine, if the depression does not respond after 4-6 sessions. It is also used in combination with other psychological medicine, to treat bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder) in adults.
Take this medicine as directed by your physician. This medicine can be taken with or without meals. The most common side effects are suicidal thoughts and sleep problems. If you have thoughts of killing or harming yourself, contact your doctor immediately. Do not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected by this medicine. Do not take FLUOXEE 60MG along with monoamine oxidase inhibitors without consulting your doctor. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Fluoxetine acts by inhibiting the re-uptake of serotonin (5HT) at the post-synaptic nerve terminal of neuronal membrane, enhancing the actions of serotonin on 5HT1A receptors. As a result, it stabilizes your mood and state of well-being.
Take FLUOXEE 60MG as directed by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.
Nausea or vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after meal. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Diarrhea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or juice, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any medicines without speaking to a doctor.
