INTRODUCTION
FINARISE 5MG TABLET contains Finasteride which belongs to a group of medicines called type II 5-Alpha reductase inhibitors. It is used to treat signs and symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in men. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH; also known as enlarged prostate) is a non-cancerous growth of prostate gland, which is predominantly caused due to excessive production of a stress hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. Symptoms of BPH includes urinary problems such as difficulty in passing urine, urinary incontinence (unintentional passing of urine), frequent urination at night, sexual dysfunction or painful ejaculation.
Finasteride reduces the size of an enlarged prostate. It works by blocking the production of a stress hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body that causes prostate enlargement in men. As a result, it helps in the shrinkage of an enlarged prostate and reduces the unpleasant symptoms associated with it. During treatment with FINARISE 5MG TABLET, your doctor would closely monitor your urinary tract as a precaution.
Before taking FINARISE 5MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver problems. It is not suitable for use in women and in children aged below 18 years. Pregnant women should not come in contact with FINARISE 5MG TABLET as it may harm the growing baby. Women of childbearing potential should use a suitable contraceptive method (such as condom) to avoid seminal exposure from men taking FINARISE 5MG TABLET. FINARISE 5MG TABLET is generally well tolerated. However, it may cause mild sexual side effects like decrease in libido or problems in erection or semen release. These side effects are usually temporary and gets reversed once the therapy is discontinued. However, contact your doctor if they trouble you.

HOW FINARISE 5MG TABLET WORKS
FINARISE 5MG TABLET helps in shrinkage of an enlarged prostate, where finasteride works by blocking the production of a stress hormone called dihydrotestosterone in the body that causes prostate enlargement. As a result, it reduces the size of prostate, prevents further growth, and improves urine flow.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take FINARISE 5MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. FINARISE 5MG TABLET can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking FINARISE 5MG TABLET without consulting your doctor.

COMMON

UNCOMMON
- rash
- breast swelling or tenderness
Stop using FINARISE 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of severe allergic reaction (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of your lips, face, tongue and throat which may cause difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- feeling depressed with suicidal thoughts
- signs of breast cancer (such as breast enlargement with pain, presence of lumps in the breast, or discharge from nipple)

PREGNANCY
ContraindicatedFINARISE 5MG TABLET is not intended for use in women. Women who are pregnant or think that they may be pregnant should not come into contact with this medicine, as it may affect the growing fetus. Women of childbearing potential should use a suitable contraceptive method (such as condom) to avoid seminal exposure from men taking FINARISE 5MG TABLET.
BREASTFEEDING
ContraindicatedFINARISE 5MG TABLET is not intended for use in women, and therefore it should not be used in breastfeeding women.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with CautionFINARISE 5MG TABLET does not affect your ability to drive or handle any heavy tools or machinery.
LIVER
Use with CautionFINARISE 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function. Consult your doctor for advice before taking.
ALLERGY
ContraindicatedDo not take FINARISE 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Finasteride.
USE IN PEDIATRICS
ContraindicatedFINARISE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for children and adolescents (below 18 years) due to lack of safety data. Consult your doctor for advice before taking.

- are a woman

- are going to have a blood test for screening of prostate cancer called PSA (prostate-specific antigen)
- have urinary retention (inability to pass urine completely) or low urine output
