What is the use of FEMOSTON 2/10?
FEMOSTON 2/10 is used to treat relive menopausal symptoms (such as hot flushes, sleep problems, irritability, or depression) and to prevent osteoporosis among postmenopausal women.
Can I stop taking FEMOSTON 2/10 once my symptoms subside?
No. Do not stop taking FEMOSTON 2/10 unless your doctor advises you to stop, because sudden termination of FEMOSTON 2/10 will not provide an expected result. Continue to take FEMOSTON 2/10 as advised by the doctor.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 be used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women?
No. FEMOSTON 2/10 is not used to prevent osteoporosis in healthy women. If you are at an increased risk of fractures due to osteoporosis and if other medicines are not suitable for you, then FEMOSTON 2/10 can be used to prevent osteoporosis after menopause.
What are the side effects of FEMOSTON 2/10?
FEMOSTON 2/10 may cause few side effects like stomach pain, back pain, breast pain or tenderness, headache, vaginal infection, or vaginal discharge. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens. Also, inform your doctor if you experience any changes in your breast such as breast pain, tenderness, discharge from the nipple, or lump growth in the breasts, heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, swelling, redness of the legs, sudden chest pain, difficulty in breathing.
What precautions need to be followed while taking FEMOSTON 2/10?
Before taking FEMOSTON 2/10 inform your doctor if you have or previously had breast cancer, uterine cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding, heart problems, blood clots, diabetes, or asthma. Take FEMOSTON 2/10 regularly as instructed by the physician without fail. Do not miss a dose of FEMOSTON 2/10 to achieve maximum benefits. Periodically undergo blood tests and breast examination as advised by your doctor without fail. Women aged below 50 years must use suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while taking FEMOSTON 2/10.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 be used as a contraceptive?
No. FEMOSTON 2/10 is not a contraceptive (birth control pill) and therefore necessary safety measures must be followed to avoid pregnancy. If it is less than 12 months since your last menstrual period and you are under 50 years of age, you may still need to use additional contraception to prevent pregnancy. In case if you become pregnant while taking FEMOSTON 2/10 stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 be used to induce periods?
No. FEMOSTON 2/10 is not used to induce periods. It is intended for use in postmenopausal women to treat menopausal symptoms. It works by supplementing your body with sufficient female sex hormones.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 be used in pregnant women?
No. FEMOSTON 2/10 not intended for use in pregnant women. It is used only in postmenopausal women to treat menopausal symptoms. Women taking FEMOSTON 2/10 must follow a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy. In case if you found to be pregnant stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 cause cancer?
Yes. Research has that shown that prolonged use of FEMOSTON 2/10 may lead to breast cancer. To avoid this, your doctor will constantly monitor your health condition using periodic blood tests and ultrasounds (breast examination). However, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms such as severe breast pain or tenderness, purplish discoloration of breasts or discharge from nipples.
How long do we bleed while taking FEMOSTON 2/10?
Nearly 75-90% of women experience bleeding up to 5 days while undergoing therapy with FEMOSTON 2/10. Bleeding usually starts at the last day of the monthly course or may happen in between the cycle as well. However, consult your doctor if you’re bleeding or spotting appears after some time on therapy, or continue to happen even after stop taking FEMOSTON 2/10.
Can FEMOSTON 2/10 cause memory loss?
Yes. FEMOSTON 2/10 may cause memory loss in elderly women (above 60 years). Consult your doctor if you are experiencing forgetfulness or memory problems.
Who should not take FEMOSTON 2/10?
FEMOSTON 2/10 is not recommended for use in patients who have or ever had breast cancer, or endometrial cancer (uterus cancer). It is also not recommended for use in patients having unexplained vaginal bleeding, increased thickening of uterus, or blood clot problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
How to take FEMOSTON 2/10?
Take FEMOSTON 2/10 strictly as advised by your physician. Swallow FEMOSTON 2/10 with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Try to take FEMOSTON 2/10 at the same time each day. Do not miss any dose of FEMOSTON 2/10 in between the therapy, as it may reduce its effectiveness. In case if you have missed a dose of FEMOSTON 2/10 take it as soon as you remember. Avoid taking a double dose of FEMOSTON 2/10 to compensate the missed dose it may lead to bleeding or spotting.
