What FELOGARD 5MG is used for?

  • It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart and chest pain (angina pectoris)

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have decompensated heart failure
  • have acute myocardial infarction (heart attack)
  • have chest pain of recent onset, or angina pectoris that is lasting for more than 15 minutes or longer or is more severe than usual
  • have disease of a heart valve or heart muscle
  • have liver problems
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • FELOGARD 5MG is not recommended in children and adolescents
  • FELOGARD 5MG can have minor or moderate influence on your ability to drive and use machines. If you experience headache, nausea, dizziness or fatigue your ability to react may be impaired

Tell your doctor, if you are taking

  • cimetidine (used to treat gastric ulcers)
  • erythromycin (used to treat infections)
  • itraconazole, ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • efavirenz, nevirapine, protease inhibitors such as ritonavir (used to treat HIV infection)
  • phenytoin, carbamazepine (used to treat epilepsy)
  • rifampicin (used to treat infections)
  • barbiturates (to treat anxiety, sleeping problems and epilepsy)
  • tacrolimus (used in organ transplantations)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • The medicine must not be divided, crushed or chewed

If you take more FELOGARD 5MG

  • If you accidentally take more tablets than your prescribed dose, tell your doctor immediately
  • Symptoms of overdose: very low blood pressure, palpitations, high or rarely, slow heart rate such as feeling faint, light-headedness or dizziness

If you forget to take FELOGARD 5MG

  •  If you forget to take a tablet, leave out that dose completely. Take your next dose at the right time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking FELOGARD 5MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • hypersensitivity and allergic reactions: The signs may include raised lumps on your skin (weals) or swelling of your face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat
  • gingivitis or periodontitis
  • ankle swelling
  • headache

  • too low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • nausea
  • abdominal pain
  • burning/prickling/numbness
  • rash or itching
  • fatigue
  • dizziness
  • fainting
  • vomiting
  • nettle rash
  • muscular and joint pain
  • impotence/sexual dysfunction
  • increased liver enzymes
  • skin reactions due to increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • inflammation of small blood vessels of the skin
  • hypersensitivity reactions such as fever or swelling of the lips and tongue
