INTRODUCTION

FAVTRIS 200 contains Favipiravir which belongs to a group of medicines called antiviral agents. It is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 disease. This medicine does not treat bacterial infections. Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is a highly infectious disease which caused by a strain of a virus called coronavirus. The common symptoms are fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, breathing difficulty, nasal congestion and diarrhea.

Always take this FAVTRIS 200 exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your physician if you have liver, kidney or heart problems. It is not recommended for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is not suitable for use in children. The common side effects are increase in blood uric acid levels, reduction in white blood cells count, diarrhoea and increase in liver enzymes.

USES OF FAVTRIS 200

  • Treats mild to moderate coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in adults

HOW FAVTRIS 200 WORKS

RNA polymerase is the enzyme which helps SARS-CoV-2 virus to make new RNA, so it is essential for the virus to make more copies of itself in the body. Favipiravir selectively targets this enzyme, to inhibit the replication of the COVID-19 causing virus in the body.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this FAVTRIS 200 exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow as whole and do not crush or chew. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

SIDE EFFECTS OF FAVTRIS 200

COMMON

  • increase in blood uric acid levels

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhoea:

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS can be used to prevent dehydration.

BREASTFEEDING

FAVTRIS 200 is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Consult your doctor for advice.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you have abnormal behaviour or impaired concentration while taking this FAVTRIS 200.

KIDNEY

FAVTRIS 200 is not recommended in patients with active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

FAVTRIS 200 is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Favipiravir.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you have or had:

  • history of gout or hyperuricaemia
  • any other medical condition

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • pyrazinamide (treats tuberculosis)
  • repaglinide (treats high blood sugar)
  • theophylline (treats asthma or breathing problems)
  • famciclovir, oseltamivir (treats antiviral infection)
  • sulindac (relieves pain)
