ESILOC 20 TABLET contains Esomeprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Proton pump inhibitors. It is used for the treatment of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) heartburn in adults and in adolescents above 12 years of age. ESILOC 20 TABLET also helps in treating stomach ulcers or upper part of the gut (intestine) that are infected with Helicobacter pylori bacteria and Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) medicines in adults and in adolescents above 12 years of age. It is also used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (too much acid produced in the stomach caused by a growth in the pancreas).
GERD is a disease where acid from the stomach escapes into the tube which connects your throat to your stomach (oesophagus) causing pain and inflammation.
ESILOC 20 TABLET is not recommended to be taken in patients with severe kidney and liver failure. ESILOC 20 TABLET should be taken only if considered clearly necessary by your doctor in pregnant women. It is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.
ESILOC 20 TABLET is not recommended for children and adolescents aged less than 12 years. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.
The most common side effects of taking ESILOC 20 TABLET are headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain, constipation, flatulence, nausea and vomiting. Contact your physician if any of the above symptoms worsens with time.
Used to treat:
ESILOC 20 TABLET is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of enzymes in the stomach cell. It hence reduces gastric acidity by blocking the final step in acid production and helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.
Take ESILOC 20 TABLET as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow ESILOC 20 TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ESILOC 20 TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Headache:
Rest and relax. Frequently hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if needed. Do not consume too much of alcohol. Consult your doctor if symptom worsens.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of liquids such as water, fruit juices or electrolytes to avoid loss of water (dehydration) in your body. Consult your doctor if the symptom persists for long time.
Nausea and Vomiting:
Try to take ESILOC 20 TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food.
ESILOC 20 TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking ESILOC 20 TABLET.
ESILOC 20 TABLET is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it is unclear whether it passes through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking ESILOC 20 TABLET.
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you experience dizziness and blurred vision after taking ESILOC 20 TABLET. Consult your doctor before taking ESILOC 20 TABLET.
Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol while taking ESILOC 20 TABLET because it might increase the amount of acid in your stomach than normal which can irritate your stomach lining and worsen your symptoms.
ESILOC 20 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking ESILOC 20 TABLET.
