ENDACE 160MG contain megestrol which belongs to a group of medicine called progestogens. It is used to treat certain types of cancer known as hormone-dependent cancer (including breast cancer). Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cell divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. Hormone-dependent cancer is a type of cancer that is dependents on a hormone for growth and/or survival which include breast cancer, which is dependent on estrogens like estradiol.
Hormones are substances produced naturally in the body and they act as chemical messengers and help control the activity of cells and organs. Hormone therapies interfere with the way hormones are made or formed in the body. Many types of cancer depend on hormones to grow. ENDACE 160MG may stop the cancer growing by changing this hormone balance in the body and slows down the growth of cancer. It can also act directly on cancer cell so that they cannot grow.
The most common side effects are increase in appetite, weight gain, hot flushes, high blood pressure, constipation, increased blood sugar levels. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
ENDACE 160MG may stop the cancer growing by changing the hormone balance in the body and slows down the growth of cancer. It can also act directly on cancer cell so that they cannot grow.
Always take ENDACE 160MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food and try to take at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Constipation:
Take fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluid such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without talking to a doctor.
Nausea and vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
ENDACE 160MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
ENDACE 160MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
ENDACE 160MG do not usually affect your ability to drive.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with ENDACE 160MG.
ENDACE 160MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
