EMPROGEST 100MG contains Progesterone which belongs to the group of medicine called progestins. It is used to treat amenorrhea (lack of periods) and abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance without any underlying disease conditions such as submucous fibroids or uterine cancer. Progesterone helps to maintain hormonal balance and provides relief from menstrual disorders and infertility issues. Along with the treatment, your doctor might recommend you to, eat healthy diet rich in fruits, greens and vegetables. Try to exercise regularly and reduce your stress levels. If you are over-weight or obese, reduce your extra weight, which might help you see the results faster.
This medicine will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are dizziness, injection site reactions breast pain, nausea, vomiting, edema or headaches. Contact your doctor immediately, if you see any changes in breasts like dimpling of the skin, changes in the nipple or presence of any lumps. Avoid consumption of alcohol, driving or travelling, because this medicine may make you feel dizzy and drowsy.
Progesterone binds to and activates the progesterone receptor (PR) present in the stromal cells during the secretory phase of menstrual cycle and during pregnancy. It works by adjusting the hormonal balance within the body, restores progesterone levels in case of deficiency and reduce the symptoms associated with menstrual irregularities.

Nausea or vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Insomnia:
Try to rest and relax. Take a deep breath. Listen to calm music and rest your mind. Doing meditation might also help.
Skin reactions:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the scalp. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better, speak to a doctor.
