INTRODUCTION

EMCORT CF CREAM is a combination of Mometasone furoate, Fusidic acid and Clotrimazole which belongs to a group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids, Oral antistaphylococcal antibiotics and Imidazoles respectively.  EMCORT CF CREAM is used in the topical treatment of various bacterial & fungal skin infections in affected individuals. It is also used to treat certain skin problems such as psoriasis and atopic eczema (itchy inflammation of the skin).

A bacterial infection occurs when a bacterium enters the body, multiplies and causes a reaction in the body, resulting in infection and symptoms such as unexplained redness and/or swelling of the skin. A fungal infection is a skin disease caused by a fungus that causes infection and symptoms such as irritation, scaly skin, redness, itching and/or swelling in the affected area.

EMCORT CF CREAM is not recommended for use if you have lung disease (such as tuberculosis), skin infections such as rosacea (a skin condition affecting the face), acne, skin atrophy (thinning of the skin), dermatitis (skin inflammation) around the mouth, genital itching, viral infections such as shingles, ulcerated skin or wounds. Before applying EMCORT CF CREAM, inform your doctor if you smoke and/or have any kidney problems.

EMCORT CF CREAM should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women who are breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children under the age of two. The most common side effects of applying EMCORT CF CREAM are mild to moderate pruritus (itchy skin), burning and stinging sensations of the skin, folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles), dry skin, mild skin atrophy and telangiectasia (dilated small blood vessels on the skin). Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse.

HOW EMCORT CF CREAM WORKS

EMCORT CF CREAM helps to treat a wide variety of bacterial & fungal skin infections and psoriasis and atopic eczema, where mometasone furoate prevents inflammation by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers that make the skin red, swollen and itchy, fusidic acid prevents the growth of bacteria and causes its destruction by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins that are essential for the bacteria to grow and clotrimazole works by destroying fungi by preventing it to form their protective that results in the prevention of occurrence of fungal infection.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always apply EMCORT CF CREAM, as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. On the affected area, apply a thin layer of this medicine. Treated areas on the face need not be covered with a plaster or bandage. Do not apply EMCORT CF CREAM on your face beyond 5 days. Avoid applying EMCORT CF CREAM around your eyes, including eyelids.

SIDE EFFECTS OF EMCORT CF CREAM

COMMON

  • mild to moderate pruritus (itchy skin)
  • burning and stinging sensation of skin
  • folliculitis (a type of skin infection marked by inflamed hair follicles)
  • dryness of skin
  • acneiform eruptions (a type of skin infection marked by papules and pustules resembling acne (a type of skin condition where hair follicles become plugged in with oil and dead skin cells)
  • mild skin atrophy (thin-shiny appearing skin)
  • telangiectasia (a condition of dilated small blood vessels on the skin)

UNCOMMON

  • erythema (skin rash)
  • swelling due to accumulation of fluid becomes, arms, feet, ankles and legs
  • fissures (cracks in the skin)
  • urticaria (red, itchy skin)
  • pimples, papular (raised and infected skin areas) and pustular formations (reddish, scaly, pus-filled bumps)
  • irritation at the site of application (including pain, irritation and skin redness)
  • eczema (skin inflammation)

RARE

  • pink eye
  • blistering of the skin

Stop applying  EMCORT CF CREAM and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of an allergic reaction such as severe rash, difficulty in breathing, swollen face /lips/tongue or throat, weakness, feeling dizzy /faint and nausea

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Dry Skin:

Try moisturizing your skin with an ointment, cream or lotion 2 or 3 times a day or as often as needed. Moisturizers help to keep the area moist, so they work best on damp skin. After you bathe, pat your skin dry then apply your moisturizer. Try to avoid using skin care products and soaps that contain alcohol, fragrances, dyes or other chemicals.

Itchy Skin:

Try to pat or tap your skin instead of scratching it. Hold a damp towel to cool your skin. Wear loose clothing and avoid tight clothes or clothes made from wool or synthetic fabrics. Avoid using perfumed soaps, deodorants or moisturizers and use skin softeners regularly.

EMCORT CF CREAM should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. Consult your doctor before applying EMCORT CF CREAM.

BREASTFEEDING

EMCORT CF CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. It should not be applied to the breast area while feeding the baby. Consult your doctor before applying EMCORT CF CREAM.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

EMCORT CF CREAM should not affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Consult your doctor before applying EMCORT CF CREAM.

KIDNEY

EMCORT CF CREAM should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before applying for the medicine.

ALLERGY

EMCORT CF CREAM is not recommended for use if you are allergic to Mometasone furoate, Fusidic acid, Clotrimazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

LUNGS

Before applying EMCORT CF CREAM, inform your doctor if you:

  • are a smoker

Use in Pediatrics:

EMCORT CF CREAM is not recommended for use in children (below 2 years). It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 2 to 18 years of age) who may develop side effects such as HPA axis suppression (condition of poor body defence against infection), Cushing’s syndrome (hormonal disorder) and intracranial hypertension (high blood pressure in the brain) upon receiving the medication. Consult your doctor before applying EMCORT CF CREAM.

Use in Geriatrics:

EMCORT CF CREAM should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Consult your doctor before applying EMCORT CF CREAM.

INTERACTIONS

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally applied too much of EMCORT CF CREAM or accidentally swallowed it, then consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are HPA axis suppression (a condition that causes poor body defence against infection), Cushing’s syndrome (hormonal disorder), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and glucosuria (low sugar in urine).
