What is ELYN Cream used for?
ELYN Cream cream for topical use is prescribed to slow down the growth rate of unwanted facial hair in women. This cream is used to treat facial hirsutism (excessive hair growth), usually around the lips or under the chin, in women aged 12 years and older. This topical drug only “reduces” the unwanted facial hair and does not permanently remove the hair.
ELYN Cream works by blocking a certain enzyme necessary for the growth of the hair. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take ELYN Cream?
The dosage of ELYN Cream prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.
Apply a thin layer of ELYN Cream cream around the affected areas of the face and chin, and rub in thoroughly. Wash your hands immediately after using the cream. Do not wash the treated areas for at least 4 hours after application. You should wait for at least 5 minutes after hair removal before applying the ELYN Cream cream. You may apply cosmetics, sunscreens or moisturizers over the treated areas after the cream has dried completely.
If your physician has instructed or directed you to apply ELYN Cream medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.
Any medication used in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of ELYN Cream, seek medical attention immediately.
What are the drugs that interact with ELYN Cream?
There are no known interactions between ELYN Cream cream and other topical medicines. However, it is important to inform your doctor about the use of any other medications including non-prescription medications (over-the-counter products) and dietary supplements like vitamins, minerals and herbal, which may increase the effect of ELYN Cream, so that the doctor can warn you of any possible drug interactions.
Do let your doctor know if you smoke, consume alcohol or caffeinated drinks, or use illegal drugs as these may interfere with the action of your medication. Make sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions you may have, or any family history of medical problems. Do not start or stop using any medicine without consulting your doctor.
