ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET contains Eletriptan which belongs to the group of medicines called Serotonin receptor agonists. It can be used to treat migraine headache (severe throbbing headache, accompanied by nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to sound and light) with or without aura in adults.
Before the start of a migraine headache, you may experience a phase called an aura, which can involve vision disorder, numbness and speech disorders.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver and kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart problems and stroke. ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with mild or moderate liver, kidney disease and diabetes. Contact your doctor before taking it.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. It is recommended to avoid breast-feeding for 24 hours after taking this medicine.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age and in elderly patients over 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
The most common side effects of taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET are heart palpitation, increased heart rate, dizziness, spinning sensation (vertigo), headache, feeling sleepy etc. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
To treat:
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET works by narrowing blood vessels in the brain, stopping pain signal from being sent to the brain and blocking the release of certain natural substances that cause pain, nausea and other symptom of migraine.
Take ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be used before or after food and drinks. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Dry mouth:
Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. Consult your doctor if the dry mouth gets worse.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Nausea and vomiting:
Take ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Try to have smaller meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-treat and contact your doctor if the stomach pain did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.
Indigestion:
Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If the indigestion does not improve, contact your doctor.
Loss of appetite:
Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you're hungry. Eat a nutritious snack which is rich in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts. Contact your doctor if your appetite did not improve.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET may pass through the breast milk and it is recommended to avoid breast-feeding for 24 hours after taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET or the migraine itself may make you sleepy. This medicine may also make you feel dizzy. Therefore, avoid driving and using machines during the migraine attack or after taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. It should be used with caution in patients with mild or moderate kidney disease and may require dose adjustment. Contact your doctor before taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET.

Do not take ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET if you are allergic to eletriptan or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe high blood pressure or untreated mild high blood pressure, heart problems such as heart attack, angina (chest pain), heart failure or significant abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia), temporary, sudden narrowing of one of the coronary arteries. Contact your doctor before taking ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET.
Inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you or anybody in your family have coronary artery disease or if you have ever been told that you may have an increased risk of heart disease.

Q: Can I take two doses of ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET to relieve migraine faster?
A: No. If the first tablet does not relieve your migraine, do not take a second tablet for the same attack. If after a first tablet your migraine is relieved and then comes back, you may take a second tablet. However, after taking the first tablet you must wait at least 2 hours before taking the second tablet. You should not take more than the recommended dose advised by your doctor. If you find that your dose of ELIPRAN 20MG TABLET does not relieve your migraines, tell your doctor – he or she may decide to increase the dose for future attacks.
