EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) contains Insulin lispro which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetics. It is used in adults and children for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
Diabetes mellitus is a disease where the body does not produce enough insulin to control the level of the blood sugar, due to which there is high blood sugar levels causing increased thirst, frequent urination, extreme hunger, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, irritability, blurred vision, slow-healing sores, frequent infections, increased ketone levels in urine.
Along with EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) treatment, your doctor might want you to make certain lifestyle changes like eating a healthy diet, not skipping meals, maintaining weight, quitting alcohol and smoking and exercising regularly.
Before taking EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO), inform your doctor if you have low blood sugar, kidney, liver or heart problems, if you exercise more, are ill or going abroad. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO).
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO). Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) for your child depending on their age, body weight and disease condition.
The most common side effects of taking EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) are skin allergy at injection site, pain, swelling, itching, redness, etc. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not reduce over time.
EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) lowers blood glucose by enhancing uptake of glucose into skeletal muscle and adipose tissue and inhibiting the output of glucose from the liver.
Take EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) as advised by your physician. It should only be injected under the skin (subcutaneous injection). Do not administer EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) into a vein or muscle. The best areas to inject are the front of your waist (abdomen), upper arms, buttocks or the front of your thighs. Stop taking EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or vomiting:
Take regular sips of a cold drink. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Headache:
Drink plenty of water and get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Call your doctor before taking any medicine for headache. If headache persists, consult your doctor.
Low blood sugar:
Drink a fruit juice or have eat glucose tablets, sugar or drink a sugary drink. Then eat fruit, biscuits or a sandwich, as advised by your doctor and have some rest. Check your blood sugar after 10 minutes. If it's still low, take another sugary snack or drink and check the blood sugar again. If the sugar levels do not improve, contact your doctor.

Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO) as it can raise or lower your blood sugar levels.

If you forget to take a dose of EGLUCENT KWIKPEN 100IU PEN(DISPO), your blood sugar may get too high (hyperglycemia). Fluctuations in your sugar levels may cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, loss of fluids (dehydration) or unconsciousness. See your doctor in such case.
