EDOX DT 100MG TABLET contains Doxycycline which belongs to group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections like that of chest, lung or nose (Ex. bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), urinary tract (Ex. cystitis, urethritis), skin (Ex. acne), eyes or sexually transmitted diseases (Ex. gonorrhoea, syphilis, chlamydia).
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET is also used to treat fevers associated with louse or tick bites and malaria (when chloroquine is ineffective). EDOX DT 100MG TABLET can also be used to prevent certain infections like scrub typhus (a disease carried by small insects), Rocky Mountain spotted fever, travellers’ diarrhoea, malaria and leptospirosis.
Avoid consumption of alcohol during treatment with EDOX DT 100MG TABLET, as it may reduce the efficacy of this medicine. Before taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis, systemic lupus erythematosus, liver or kidney problems, porphyria, diarrhea or suspected syphilis.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding. EDOX DT 100MG TABLET should be used in children (8 years of age or less) only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
You should avoid exposure to strong sunlight while taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET as your skin may be more sensitive to sunburn than normal. The most common side effects of taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, joint pain, skin rash, fever, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse with time.

EDOX DT 100MG TABLET reduces bacterial infection by blocking protein synthesis of bacteria and thus preventing its growth.
Take EDOX DT 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Do not crush or chew it. Swallow with a glass of water. The dose and duration will be determined by your doctor depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.
Stop taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea and Vomiting:
Take EDOX DT 100MG TABLET with or just after meals. Avoid eating fried and greasy food. Take simple, light, small meals at frequent intervals. Drink plenty of fluids for optimum hydration. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water, fluids and electrolytes such as ORS and stay hydrated. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Headache:
Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Try to be tension free and relaxed. Take adequate sleep and rest. Avoid consumption of alcohol. Apply pain balm if required. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Light sensitivity:
Reduce exposure to sunlight. While going out, wear fully covering clothes and apply sunscreen with high SPF. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Skin rashes:
Do not scratch on rashes. Apply mild moisturizers if needed and avoid hot showers. Take an oatmeal bath. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET should not affect your ability to drive or use machines. Consult your doctor for advice.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET because it might reduce the efficacy of this medicine.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
EDOX DT 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not take EDOX DT 100MG TABLET if you are allergic to doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Can EDOX DT 100MG TABLET cause diarrhea?
Diarrhea is a common problem caused by EDOX DT 100MG TABLET, which usually ends when the medicine is discontinued. Sometimes after starting the treatment, you might develop watery and bloody stools (with or without stomach cramps and fever) even as late as two or more months after having taken the last dose of EDOX DT 100MG TABLET. If this occurs, you should tell the doctor as soon as possible.
Can EDOX DT 100MG TABLET be used for common cold?
Patients should know that antibacterial drugs including EDOX DT 100MG TABLET should only be used to treat bacterial infections. They should not be used to treat viral infections like the common cold. Consult your doctor for further queries.
Can I stop taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET if I feel better?
Do not stop taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop. If you stop taking it early, the infection may return. Take EDOX DT 100MG TABLET for the full time of treatment, even if you begin to feel better.
What if I forget to take a dose of EDOX DT 100MG TABLET?
If you forget to take a dose of EDOX DT 100MG TABLET, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take EDOX DT 100MG TABLET two times to make up for the missed dose. Doubling the dose to make up for a missed dose would not substitute the missing amount but increase the risk of overdosing. Consult your doctor for further queries.
Does EDOX DT 100MG TABLET cause sensitivity to light?
Yes. Photosensitivity (light sensitivity) manifested by a worsening sunburn reaction has been observed in some patients taking EDOX DT 100MG TABLET. Patients prone to be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light should know that this reaction can occur with EDOX DT 100MG TABLET or similar medicines and treatment should be discontinued at the first evidence of skin redness.
