What is DOLOSPAN OD?

What DOLOSPAN OD is used for?

  • It is used to treat mild to moderate muscular pain, painful periods (dysmenorrhea) and toothache

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have or had asthma
  • have angioedema (swollen face, eyes, lips, or tongue, or respiratory distress)
  • have photoallergic or phototoxic reactions (reddening or blistering of the skin exposed to sunlight
  • have or had a peptic ulcer, stomach or bowel bleeding
  • have chronic digestive problems (indigestion, heartburn), chronic inflammation (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis)
  • have moderate or serious kidney or liver or heart problems
  • have a bleeding or a blood clotting disorder
  • are severely dehydrated (have lost a lot of body fluids) due to vomiting, diarrhoea or insufficient intake of fluids
  • have systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease (immune system disorders that affect connective tissue)
  • are a smoker
  • have suffer from asthma combined with chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and/or nasal polyposis
  • are a woman with fertility problems
  • It is not recommended during the final three months of pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • This medicine is not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years of age
  • Consult your doctor for advice before giving this medicine to your children
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine, it may cause dizziness or drowsiness

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • acetylsalicylic acid, corticosteroids or other anti-inflammatory drugs
  • warfarin, heparin (used to prevent blood clots)
  • lithium (used to treat certain mood disorders)
  • methotrexate, pemetrexed (used to treat cancer)
  • hydantoins and phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
  • zidovudine (used to treat viral infections)
  • sulphametoxazole, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin (used for bacterial infections)
  • beta-blockers (used to treat high blood pressure and heart problems)
  • pentoxifylline and oxpentifylline (used to treat chronic venous ulcers)
  • chlorpropamide and glibenclamide (used to treat diabetes)
  • cyclosporin or tacrolimus (used to treat immune system diseases and in organ transplant)
  • probenecid (used to treat gout)
  • mifepristone (used to terminate a pregnancy)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water

If you take more DOLOSPAN OD

  • If you use too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital

If you forget to take DOLOSPAN OD

  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet. take the next regular dose when it is due

If you stop taking DOLOSPAN OD

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • skin rash, lesion inside the mouth, genitals
  • fluid retention and swelling (especially in the ankles and legs)
  • nausea and or vomiting
  • upper quadrants abdominal pain

  • digestive problems (dyspepsia)
  • dizziness, headache
  • sleepiness or disturbed sleep
  • nervousness, palpitations, tiredness
  • flushing
  • inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis)
  • constipation
  • dry mouth, flatulence, skin rash
  • pain, feeling feverish and shivering
  • generally feeling unwell (malaise)

 

  • high blood pressure
  • too-slow breathing
  • swollen ankles
  • laryngeal edema
  • loss of appetite (anorexia)
  • abnormal sensation
  • itchy rash
  • increased sweating
  • back pain
  • passing urine frequently
  • menstrual disorders
  • prostate problems
  • abnormal liver function tests (blood tests)
  • liver cell injury (hepatitis)
  • acute renal failure
  • immune system disorders that affect connective tissue (systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease)
  • open sores on skin, mouth, eyes and genital areas (Stevens Johnson and Lyell’s syndromes)
  • face swelling or swelling of the lips and throat (angioedema)
  • breathlessness due to narrowing of the airways (bronchospasm)
  • shortness of breath, fast heartbeat
  • low blood pressure
  • inflammation of the pancreas
  • blurred vision
  • ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • sensitive skin, sensitivity to light
  • kidney problems
  • reduced white blood cell count (neutropenia)
  • fewer platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
