What DILSAVE 400MG is used for?

It is used to,

  • regulate heartbeat
  • treat atrial fibrillation (heart beats out of time)
  • prevent repetition of your problem of irregular heart rhythm

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • are more than 75 years old
  • have coronary artery disease (when the vessel that supplies blood to heart muscle becomes hardened and narrowed)
  • have heart block (problem with the nerves in the heart)
  • have a very slow heartbeat (less than 50 beats a minute)
  • have a severe liver or kidney problem
  • have a ventricular dysfunction
  • have a low level of potassium and magnesium in the blood
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • It is not recommended in children and adolescents below 18 years of age
  • Do not drive or operate any machines while taking this medicine as it may cause fatigue

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • other medicines used to control an irregular or fast heart beat such as flecainide, propafenone, quinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide, sotalol, amiodarone
  • ketoconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole or posaconazole (used to treat infections)
  • medicines for depression called tricyclic antidepressants
  • phenothiazines (used to treat schizophrenia)
  • bepridil (used to treat angina)
  • terfenadine (used to treat allergic conditions)
  • cisapride (used to treat gastric emptying disorders)
  • ritonavir (used to treat HIV infection)
  • dabigatran, warfarin, dabigatran (used to prevent blood clot formation)
  • medicines for high blood pressure such as verapamil, diltiazem, nifedipine, metoprolol, propranolol or digoxin
  • simvastatin, lovastatin, atorvastatin, or rosuvastatin (used to reduce cholesterol in the blood)
  • phenobarbital, carbamazepine or phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
  • sirolimus, tacrolimus, everolimus and cyclosporine (used after a transplant)
  • rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the medicine whole with a drink of water

If you take more DILSAVE 400MG

  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take DILSAVE 400MG

  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
  • Take the next dose when you are normally due to take it

If you stop taking DILSAVE 400MG

  • Do not stop taking this this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • swollen feet or legs, trouble breathing when lying down or sleeping, shortness of breath when moving around or weight increase (heart does not adequately pump the blood around the body)
  • diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain, feeling tired
  • slow heartbeat
  • changes in the blood creatinine level or ECG
  • rash or itching
  • change in the results of blood tests (liver function)
  • breathlessness or non-productive cough (inflammation of the lungs including scarring and thickening of the lung)
  • redness, itching, burning or blistering (skin problems)
  • change in taste
  • stomach (abdominal) area pain or discomfort, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes (jaundice), unusual darkening of the urine, fatigue
  • swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat
  • inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis including leukocytoclastic vasculitis)
