What is Deferasirox used for?

Deferasirox tablet is used for the treatment of excess iron levels in the body and certain blood disorders, such as non-transfusion dependent thalassemia.

Deferasirox may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by the doctor.

How does Deferasirox work?

Deferasirox belongs to the class of drugs called iron-chelating agents. The drug acts by binding iron with strong affinity and forms a stable complex, thereby facilitating the body to eliminate extra iron through the stool. Thus, it helps in maintaining the blood iron levels.

How to take Deferasirox?

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take Deferasirox tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Swallow the tablet Do not crush or chew the tablet.
