What DAYO OD SPRINKLE is used for?

It is used alone or with other medicines to treat:

  • complex partial seizures in adults and children 10 years of age and older
  • simple and complex absence seizures, with or without other seizure types

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to divalproex sodium
  • have a genetic problem call a urea cycle disorder
  • drink alcohol
  • have liver problems
  • have or have had depression, mood problems, or suicidal thoughts or behavior
  • have any other medical conditions
  • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breast feeding consult your doctor before taking this medicine
  • DAYO OD SPRINKLE can pass into breast milk and may harm your unborn baby
  • DAYO OD SPRINKLE is not recommended for the children aged below 10 years
  • Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how DAYO OD SPRINKLE affects you. DAYO OD SPRINKLE can slow your thinking and motor skills
  • Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, herbal supplements and medicines that you take for a short period of time
  • Take the medicine exactly as your healthcare provider tells you
  • Your healthcare provider may change your dose
  • Swallow this medicine whole
  • Do not crush or chew or divide it

If you take more DAYO OD SPRINKLE

  • If you take too much DAYO OD SPRINKLE, call your healthcare provider immediately

If you forget to take DAYO OD SPRINKLE

  • If you miss a dose, just skip that dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time

If you stop taking DAYO OD SPRINKLE

  • Do not stop taking DAYO OD SPRINKLE without first talking to your healthcare provider

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • liver damage that can cause death
  • nausea or vomiting that does not go away
  • abdominal discomfort
  • dark urine
  • swelling of your face
  • yellowing of your skin or eyes
  • suicidal thoughts
  • worse depression or anxiety
  • panic attacks
  • trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • allergic reactions like fever, skin rash, hives, sores in your mouth, blistering and peeling of your skin
  • drowsiness or sleepiness in the elderly
  • bleeding problems: red or purple spots on your skin, bruising, pain and swelling into your joints due to bleeding or bleeding from your mouth or nose
  • high ammonia levels in your blood: feeling tired, vomiting, changes in mental status
  • low body temperature (hypothermia): drop in your body temperature to less than 95°F, feeling tired, confusion, coma
  • nausea, headache
  • sleepiness
  • vomiting
  • weakness
  • dizziness
  • stomach pain
  • blurry vision
  • weight gain
  • hair loss
  • loss of appetite
  • problems with walking or coordination

Storage
  • If you take DAYO OD SPRINKLE during pregnancy for any medical condition, your child is at risk for having a lower IQ
  • There may be other medicines to treat your condition that have a lower chance of birth defects
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)

  • Do not take this medicine after the expiry date
