What is Terbinafine used for?

Terbinafine is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections of the fingernails or toenails. It is also used to treat ringworm, jock itch, and athlete's foot. This medicine works by stopping the growth of fungus. It is available in cream and tablet forms. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take Terbinafine?

The dosage of Terbinafine prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label. The following dosage information includes the common dose of Terbinafine. If your dose is different, do not follow the dosage described below unless your physician has approved.

Apply a thin film of Terbinafine cream onto the affected area.

Terbinafine tablet may be taken with or without food.

If your physician has instructed or directed you to use Terbinafine medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Terbinafine, seek medical attention immediately.
