What DARUVIR 800MG is used for?

  • It is used to treat adults and children of 3 years of age and above and at least 15 kilograms body weight who are infected by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
  • It must be taken in combination with a low dose of ritonavir and other anti-HIV medicines

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have severe liver problems including hepatitis B or C infection
  • have diabetes
  • It is recommended that HIV infected women must not breastfeed their infants because of both the possibility of your baby becoming infected with HIV through your breast milk and because of the unknown effects of the medicine on your baby
  • If you are pregnant, breast feeding or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • DARUVIR 800MG is not for use in children younger than 3 years of age or weighing less than 15 kilograms
  • Do not operate machines or drive if you feel dizzy after taking DARUVIR 800MG

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you use, including prescription and non-prescription medicines and herbal supplements.

Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • avanafil, sildenafil (used to treat erectile dysfunction)
  • astemizole or terfenadine (used to treat allergy symptoms)
  • triazolam, midazolam (used to help you sleep and/or relieve anxiety)
  • cisapride (used to treat some stomach conditions)
  • colchicine (used to treat gout)
  • lurasidone, pimozide, quetiapine or sertindole (used to treat psychiatric conditions)
  • ergot alkaloids like ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, ergometrine and methylergonovine (used to treat migraine headaches)
  • amiodarone, bepridil, dronedarone, quinidine, ranolazine (used to treat certain heart disorders e.g. abnormal heartbeat)
  • lovastatin, simvastatin and lomitapide (used to lower cholesterol levels)
  • rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)
  • lopinavir/ritonavir (used to treat HIV)
  • elbasvir/grazoprevir (used to treat hepatitis C infection)
  • alfuzosin (used to treat enlarged prostate)
  • ticagrelor (used to help stop the clumping of platelets in the treatment of patients with a history of a heart attack)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the tablet with water
  • Your doctor will give the right dose based on your age, body weight and disease condition

If you take more DARUVIR 800MG

  • If you take more, contact your doctor immediately

If you forget to take DARUVIR 800MG

  • If you notice after 6 hours, then skip the intake and take the next doses as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking DARUVIR 800MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

  • dark (tea colored) urine
  • pale colored stools
  • nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or pain

  • headache, tiredness, dizziness, drowsiness
  • numbness, tingling or pain in hands or feet, loss of strength

  • chest pain, changes in electrocardiogram, rapid heart beating
  • decreased or abnormal skin sensibility, pins and needles, attention disturbance, loss of memory, problems with your balance
  • difficulty breathing, cough, nosebleed, throat irritation
  • inflammation of the stomach or mouth, heartburn, retching, dry mouth, discomfort of the abdomen, constipation, belching
  • kidney failure, kidney stones, difficult discharge of urine, frequent or excessive passage of urine, sometimes at night
  • urticaria, severe swelling of the skin and other tissues (most often the lips or the eyes), eczema, excessive sweating, night sweats, hair loss, acne, scaly skin, coloration of nails
  • muscle pain, muscle cramps or weakness, pain in extremity, osteoporosis
  • slowing down of the thyroid gland function
  • high blood pressure, flushing
  • red or dry eyes
  • fever, swelling of lower limbs due to fluids, malaise, irritability
  • symptoms of infection, herpes simplex
  • erectile dysfunction, enlargement of breasts
  • sleeping problems, sleepiness, depression, anxiety
  • abnormal dreams decrease in sexual drive
  • severe rash, fever, fatigue, swelling of the face or lymph glands
  • increase of eosinophils (type of white blood cells)
  • heart attack, slow heart beating, palpitations
  • visual disturbance
  • chills, feeling abnormal
  • feeling of confusion or disorientation, altered mood, restlessness fainting, epileptic fits, changes or loss of taste
