INTRODUCTION

DALSTEP 10MG contains Dalfampridine which belongs to class of medications called potassium channel blockers. It helps to improve walking in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) by an increase in walking speed. Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the nerves do not function properly and may cause weakness, numbness, loss of muscle coordination and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control. This medicine works by strengthening the nerve signals sent by the brain through nerves that was damaged by this condition.

DALSTEP 10MG is a broad-spectrum potassium channel blocker which increases conduction of action potentials in demyelinated axons through inhibition of potassium channels. It works by strengthening the signals sent by the brain through nerves that have been damaged by multiple sclerosis (MS). Always take DALSTEP 10MG exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. The common side effects are dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping and constipation.

HOW DALSTEP 10MG WORKS

DALSTEP 10MG is a broad spectrum potassium channel blocker which increases conduction of action potentials in demyelinated axons through inhibition of potassium channels. It works by strengthening the signals sent by the brain through nerves that have been damaged by multiple sclerosis (MS).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this DALSTEP 10MG exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow the medicine as a whole, with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew. It can be taken with or without food.

SERIOUS

  • shortness of breath or trouble breathing

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.

Constipation:

Add fruits, vegetables whole grains and other high-fiber foods to your normal diet.

Nausea:

Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Indigestion:

Try not to chew with your mouth open, drink beverages after rather than during meals. Avoid late-night eating and try to relax after meals.

Insomnia:

Stick to a sleep schedule. Keep your bedtime and wake time consistent from day to day, avoid large meals and beverages before bed.

DALSTEP 10MG is not recommended in patients with active kidney diseases. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

ALLERGY

Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Dalfampridine.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor if you have or had,

  • any other medical conditions

INTERACTIONS

Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,

  • cimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcers)
