INTRODUCTION

CLINDANESS 300 TABLETcontains Clindamycin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to kill certain serious bacterial infections. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, nausea, vomiting and swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, groin or elsewhere.

Before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have or ever had problems with your stomach or intestines (bowel disease, diarrhea), hay fever, asthma, eczema, intolerance to certain sugars, kidney, and liver problems. CLINDANESS 300 TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET.

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. The most common side effects of taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET are diarrhea, stomach pain and abnormal liver function tests. Consult your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.

HOW CLINDANESS 300 TABLET WORKS

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET acts against the bacteria by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome (site of protein synthesis). Which in turn prevents protein synthesis and kills the infection-causing bacteria.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take CLINDANESS 300 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow it with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CLINDANESS 300 TABLET

COMMON

  • diarrhea
  • stomach pain
  • abnormal liver function test

UNCOMMON

  • vomiting
  • feeling sick
  • smooth skin rashes or redness covered with elevated bumps
  • hives

RARE

Stop taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • severe, continuous, bloody diarrhea (with stomach pain or fever). It can be a sign of serious bowel inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis).
  • a severe allergic reaction such as sudden wheezing, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, throat or tongue, rash, or itching (especially if affecting the entire body)
  • jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes)
  • skin rashes which can be severe or life-threatening:
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome (peeling of large areas of skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals) and a more severe form (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • the rapid appearance of areas of red skin with small pustules (blisters filled with white/yellow fluid) (Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP))
  • widespread red skin rash with pus-containing blisters (exfoliative dermatitis bullous)
  • skin rash, which may blister (looks like central dark spots surrounded by a paler area, with a dark ring around the edge, known as erythema multiforme)
  • drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (fever, swollen lymph nodes or skin rash)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if your symptoms don't improve.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby as it crosses the placenta. It will be given to you by the doctor only if it's clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET.

BREASTFEEDING

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

KIDNEY

CLINDANESS 300 TABLETshould be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Your doctor will give the right dose depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET.

LIVER

CLINDANESS 300 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severe liver problems. Your doctor will give the right dose depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET.

ALLERGY

Do not take CLINDANESS 300 TABLET if you are allergic to Clindamycin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

Before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • you have an intolerance to some sugars
  • have diarrhea or have ever suffered from problems with your stomach or intestines (bowel disease)
  • have hay fever, asthma, or eczema

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking CLINDANESS 300 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • erythromycin (an antibiotic used to treat infection)
  • warfarin (blood thinners)
  • muscle relaxants used for operations. (Ex. cyclobenzaprine)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much CLINDANESS 300 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
