CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP contains Cefpodoxime which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria such as acute otitis media (inflammation of middle ear leading to pain and fever), tonsilitis (sore throat, difficulty swallowing and tender lymph nodes), chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the airways present in the lungs leading to cough with mucus), community acquired pneumonia (inflammation of lungs leading to congestion), gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted infection in rectum, cervix or vagina).
It is also used to treat uncomplicated skin and structure infections (rashes, swelling, redness, pain, pus and itching), acute maxillary sinusitis (inflammation around the nasal cavity leading to headache and runny nose) and cystitis (strong, persistent urge to urinate with burning sensation and blood in the urine).
CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP should be avoided if you are allergic to cefpodoxime or to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics (such as cefuroxime, cefixime) or if you had experienced immediate or severe hypersensitivity reaction (anaphylaxis) to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (such as aztreonam).
Before taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP, inform your doctor if you have or ever had colitis, liver problems and impaired kidney function. Your doctor may monitor your blood count and liver enzymes level in blood tests while taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP.
CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP is generally not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless clearly advised by the doctor. CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP is not recommended for use in infants less than 2 months of age and it should be used with caution in elderly patients, especially in patients with impaired kidney function.
The most common side effects of taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP are diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and headache. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP prevents infection by stopping or preventing the bacteria from multiplying by inhibiting their cell wall formation, which is essential for the bacteria to survive as it provides protection from the environment. This kind of action that kills bacteria is useful in treating various bacterial infections.
Take CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP as advised by your physician. Tap the bottle to loosen the powder. Add two-thirds of the sterile water (provided with the pack) and shake the bottle vigorously. Add more water up to the mark on the bottle and shake well before using. Allow the suspension to stand for 5 minutes.
Depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition, your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you.

Nausea or vomiting:
Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating oily rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache:
Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Diarrhea:
Drink lot of fluids, such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea and consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.
CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP.
CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP should be used with caution in breast-feeding women only if considered clearly necessary as small amount of this medicine is excreted in the breast milk and may cause adverse reactions in breastfed infants such as diarrhea or mucosal fungus infection. Consult your doctor before taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP.
Do not drive or operate any machinery if you feel dizzy after taking CEPOTUS 100 DRY SYRUP.
