CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET contains Carvedilol which belongs to a group of medicines called Beta-blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain or angina and also used to treat heart failure. Hypertension is defined as persistently elevated arterial blood pressure. Angina pectoris can be defined as a sudden, sharp and severe chest pain that originates from the apex of the heart and radiates to the left shoulder and it can be characterized by the presence of severe and crushing pain along with a feeling of pressure and suffocation, especially behind the breastbone. Heart failure is an inability of the heart to pump sufficient blood to meet the body’s needs.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart failure (fluid retention and breathlessness), a history of wheezing due to asthma or other lung diseases, severe hardening of arteries affecting the circulation in legs or feet, liver disease, conduction defect of the heart or heart block, AV heart block grade II or III, sick sinus syndrome (sino- atrial block), slow heartbeat, cardiogenic shock, very low blood pressure, unstable heart failure, Prinzmetal’s angina (chest pain at rest), untreated pheochromocytoma (a tumour of the adrenal gland), metabolic acidosis (disturbance in body’s acid-base balance), glucose or galactose intolerance.
Before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET inform your doctor, if you have diabetes, kidney, liver problems, severe hardening of arteries affecting the circulation in your legs or feet, arms, low blood pressure or elderly, first-degree heart block or other heart problems, severe heart failure, low salt and blood levels, Raynaud’s syndrome or peripheral vascular disease (cold hands and feet), thyroid problems, pheochromocytoma, previous history of serious allergic reaction or desensitisation therapy, psoriasis, Prinzmetal’s angina (chest pain at rest), dry eyes, lung disease (Asthma, COPD), pain, numbness or weakness of muscles due to low blood flow, surgery.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET. CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use by pregnant and breastfeeding women. CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). The most common side effects of taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET are dizziness, headache, weakness, tiredness and low blood pressure causing lightheaded or fainting.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET works by blocking Beta receptors (Beta-1 and Beta- 2) and alpha1 receptors causing relaxation of blood vessels. This makes it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body and reduces blood pressure and strain on your heart. It has also a calcium channel blockade effect in high doses, antioxidant/ free radical scavenging properties.
Take CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Nausea or vomiting:
Take the medicine with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhea. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Stomach pain:
Rest and relax. Try to have smaller meals but take them frequently. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Dizziness or drowsiness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known if this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy after taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET because it might make you dizzier.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
Do not take CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Carvedilol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with breathing problems such as asthma or other lung diseases. Consult your doctor before taking CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET.
CARVEGO 6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having severe heart failure, conduction defect of the heart or heart block, AV heart block grade II or III, sick sinus syndrome (sino-atrial block), slow heartbeat, cardiogenic shock, very low blood pressure, unstable heart failure, Prinzmetal’s angina (chest pain at rest).
