What is the use of BPROS?
BPROS is used to treat glaucoma (increased pressure within the eye). It improves the drainage of the accumulated fluids (aqueous humour) from the eye. As a result, it reduces the elevated pressure within the eye.
Can the use of BPROS cause dry eyes?
Yes. Dryness of eyes is one of the common side effects of using BPROS. If you experience dry eye, wash your eye with water more frequently. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or juices. If you experience severe eye dryness, consult your doctor for advice. Your doctor may prescribe an eye lubricant.
Can BPROS cause any permanent changes to the body?
BPROS cause your eyelashes to darken and grow. The skin around the eyelid, and the colour of your iris may also go darker. These changes may be permanent, and more noticeable if you are treating only one eye with BPROS.
Can I stop using BPROS without consulting my doctor?
Do not stop using BPROS without consulting your doctor, as the pressure within the eye may raise once again. If you think that you are feeling better or if you wish to stop using BPROS, contact your doctor for advice. Your doctor will check your condition and gradually withdraw the use of BPROS.
What if I miss a dose of BPROS?
If you missed a dose of BPROS, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for next dose, skip the missed dose and use the regular dose. Do not use a double dose of BPROS to compensate the missed dose.
How to use BPROS?
Use BPROS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Instil few drops of BPROS into the affected eye(s). Close your eyes and press the corner of your eye with your finger for a minute. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying BPROS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Can I use other eye medicines while using BPROS?
Yes. You can use other eye medicines while undergoing therapy with BPROS. But make sure to leave a time gap of at least 5 minutes before applying other eye drops or ointment.
Can I use BPROS while wearing contact lenses?
If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying BPROS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Can BPROS improve hair growth in the body?
Besides used in the treatment of glaucoma, BPROS can improve the growth of eye lashes (hypotrichosis) due to increase in blood supply to areas around the eyes or eyelids. However, consult your doctor before taking.
Can BPROS be bought over the counter?
BPROS is a prescription medicine. You must consult your doctor before using BPROS to be on the safer side.
Is BPROS a beta-blocker?
No. BPROS is a prostaglandin analog used to treat glaucoma. It works by increasing the drainage of the accumulated fluids (aqueous humour) from the eye which reduces strain on the eyes and therefore reduces the elevated intraocular pressure.
What are the side effects of BPROS?
During treatment with BPROS, you may experience certain changes in your eye such as sunken eyes, eyelid drooping, skin tightening around the eyes, sudden growth in eyelashes or darkness around the eyes or in the iris. These side effects are usually temporary and disappears once therapy is stopped.
How does BPROS work?
BPROS effectively reduces pressure within the eyes, where bimatoprost acts by increasing the drainage of the fluids (aqueous humour) accumulated within the eye. This reduces strain on the eyes and therefore reduces the elevated intraocular pressure.
