INTRODUCTION

BLADOSPAS contains Flavoxate which belongs to the group of medicines called Muscle relaxants. It is used to treat muscle spasms of the urinary tract. It can also be used to relieve symptoms which may occur due to surgery, cystoscopy (examination of bladder and urethra) or catheterisation, like painful urination, too much urination at night and no control over urine flow.

Flavoxate works by inhibiting bladder contractions in the urinary tract along with reducing the pain associated with those contractions. Prior to the treatment, your doctor may want you to take several blood tests to understand your existing condition.

Before taking BLADOSPAS, inform your doctor if you have any disease of the digestive tract, urinary retention, glaucoma, or kidney problems. BLADOSPAS is not recommended among pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 12 years of age, therefore consult your doctor before taking it. The most common side effect of taking BLADOSPAS is nausea. Contact your doctor if your symptom gets worsen.

USES OF BLADOSPAS

It is used to:

  • treat muscle spasms of the urinary tract
  • relieve urinary symptoms (which may occur due to surgery, cystoscopy, or catheterisation)

HOW BLADOSPAS WORKS

BLADOSPAS works by inhibiting bladder contractions in the urinary tract along with reducing the pain associated with those contractions.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take BLADOSPAS as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Get plenty of fresh air. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Eat smaller meals more frequently. Avoid strong-smelling, hot, fried or greasy food. Avoid large drink with meals. Do not lie down immediately after eating. Avoid wearing clothes that are tight around your waist or tummy.

Vomiting:

Get adequate rest. Drink sufficient amount of fluids. Have small sips if you feel sick. Eat when you feel hungry. Do not take any medicine for vomiting without asking your doctor.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

Dry mouth:

Try to drink plenty of cold water. Sip on cold unsweetened drinks and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Try to brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

PREGNANCY

Before taking BLADOSPAS, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to get pregnant, as the safety of this medicine in pregnancy has not been established. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

Before taking BLADOSPAS, inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed as the safety of this medicine in lactation has not been established. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience sleepiness or blurred vision after taking BLADOSPAS.

KIDNEY

BLADOSPAS should be taken with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY

Do not take BLADOSPAS if you are allergic to Flavoxate.

OTHERS

BLADOSPAS is not recommended for use if you:

  • have a disease of the digestive tract that obstructs the normal passage of food
  • have bleeding in your digestive tract
  • have achalasia (muscular inability to swallow)
  • have urinary retention (not able to completely empty your bladder)
  • being treated for an eye illness called glaucoma
  • have myasthenia gravis (a disease which causes general weakness and overtiredness of the muscles)

Use in paediatrics:

BLADOSPAS is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking BLADOSPAS, inform your doctor if you are taking, have taken, or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicine.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BLADOSPAS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

BLADOSPAS rarely causes itching. If you feel itchy, pat, or tap your skin instead of scratching it, or apply something cool on your skin, like a damp towel. Wear loose clothes, preferably cotton. If you experience persistent itching, consult your doctor.

Can I take BLADOSPAS to treat my stomach pain?

No, it is not used in the treatment of stomach pain. It is used to treat muscles spasm in urinary tract only. Stomach pain could be of various other reasons, so kindly avoid using BLADOSPAS for stomach pain and if you have been diagnosed with any other stomach disorders kindly consult your doctor before using it.

Can we use BLADOSPAS for menstrual pain?

No, it is not used for menstrual pain. It is used to treat muscles spasm in urinary tract only. Do not use this medicine for menstrual pain. Your doctor may prescribe other medicine for menstrual pain.
