BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION contains Epirubicin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticancer agents. It is used to treat various types of cancer such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, gastric cancer (stomach cancer), small cell lung cancer, head and neck cancer, liver cancer, blood cancer (leukemia), lymph cancer (lymphoma), pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer (cancers of colon or rectam).
It can also be used to treat cancers of soft tissues such as soft tissues sarcoma (cancer of the soft tissues that connects muscles, fats, blood vessels, nerves, tendons etc.) and helps in the prevention of bladder cancer following surgeries (such as transurethral resection).
Before receiving BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any severe infections, low blood count or any bladder problems (such as problems in passing urine, burning sensation while passing urine etc.) as a precaution.
BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Both men and women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with this medicine. Men may seek advice on sperm preservation, if necessary, prior to the therapy with this medicine.
The most common side effects of receiving BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION are hair loss, red urine, increased infection, hot flashes, mouth ulcers, inflammation of oesophagus, nausea, vomiting (within first 24 hours), loss of appetite, bladder infection, burning sensation while passing urine and pain, redness and swelling at the site of injection. As a result, it prevents abnormal cell division within the body, slows down the growth of cancer cells and eventually kills them.
BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (as an intravenous infusion) or into the bladder (intravesical administration).
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION:
Place an ice pack on the injected site. Do not move the affected area frequently. If the symptom worsens, consult your doctor.
Avoid eating spicy foods. Drink plenty of water. Apply a pain-relieving gel on the affected areas of the mouth if required. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
There is no proper information regarding the use of BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION in pregnant women. Animal studies have indicated harm to the growing offspring. Therefore, BIORUBIN 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy during the treatment and for at least 6.5 months after the last dose.
