INTRODUCTION

BETAMIL contains Betamethasone which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids, which reduces swelling and irritation. It is used to treat skin problems such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Eczema is skin disease, which causes the skin to become red and itchy. Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which itchy, scaly, pink patches develops on the elbows, knees, scalp and other parts of the body.

Betamethasone gives an inflammatory action by vasoconstriction of blood capillaries, thereby reducing inflammatory symptoms. It acts as a topical keratolytic, which removes the scales allowing better penetration of topical steroid.

Always use this BETAMIL as advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children below 1 year of age. Avoid this medicine get into your eyes. The most common side effects are application site reactions such as burning, pain, irritation or itching. It should not be used under bandages or plasters.

BETAMIL works by reducing the inflammation in the affected area to reduce the redness, swelling and itchiness of the skin.

  • skin rash, swelling
  • psoriasis, raised bumps with pus under the skin

  • burning, pain, irritation or itching (application site)

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

BETAMIL should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before using.

BREASTFEEDING

BETAMIL should only be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or handle any machines if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances.

ALLERGY

Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Betamethasone.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor before using this medicine, if you have or had a condition such as,

  • rosacea (a skin condition affecting the face)
  • spotty red rash around your mouth
  • itching around your back passage or private parts
  • infected skin or itchy skin
  • psoriasis
  • chronic leg ulcer

INTERACTIONS

Inform your doctor if you are using or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,

  • itraconazole (treats fungal infection)
  • ritonavir, cobicistat (used for HIV)
  • other steroids
