BENOVAT 45MG contains Idebenone which belongs to the group of medicines called nootropic agents. It is indicated for the treatment of various cognitive (e.g. dementia) and behavioural deficits (e.g. decreased volition, altered mental status, emotional disturbances, speech disturbances) associated with cerebrovascular or degenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral arteriosclerosis in adult patients. It also improves memory, learning, thinking, volition and attention in these patients.
Idebenone improves cognitive and behavioural defects by protecting the brain cells against the oxidative tissue damage caused by free radicals. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, weight and health condition. Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly without consulting your doctor, as it may leads to worsening of your existing condition.
This medicine is generally safe and is well tolerated. However, it may cause mild nausea, diarrhea or headache in few individuals. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms bothers you. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease. BENOVAT 45MG is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating women and in children due to lack of safety data. Consult your doctor before taking.

Nausea:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Diarrhea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or juice, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any medicines without speaking to a doctor.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Do not drink too much alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.
