INTRODUCTION

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is a combination of Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Beta-lactamase inhibitors respectively. It treats various types of bacterial infections like pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis, acute bacterial otitis media, acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis, skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, gonorrhoea (uncomplicated and disseminated gonococcal infections), early Lyme disease (erythema migrans), septicemia, meningitis and in switch therapy (injectable to oral) after surgery when patient’s condition is improved.

Before taking BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a history of colitis, liver problems or kidney problems. BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who are penicillin sensitive. BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women and is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children under the age of three months. The most common side effects of taking BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea abdominal discomfort or pain. Ask your doctor for advice if any of these side effects worsen or don’t improve.

USES OF BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections such as:

  • Pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis
  • Acute bacterial otitis media
  • Acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis
  • Lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia

HOW BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET WORKS

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is a combination of cefuroxime and clavulanic acid. Cefuroxime is an antibiotic that works by preventing the formation of a protective coating on the bacteria, which is essential for their survival. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by reducing resistance and enhancing the activity of cefuroxime against bacteria.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your physician will determine the correct dose and duration of BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

COMMON

  • nausea

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Take this medicine with meals or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult with your doctor if the symptom doesn’t improve.

Vomiting:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks; eat light, bland foods; and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Consult with your doctor if the symptom doesn’t improve.

Diarrhoea:

Drink a lot of fluids, such as water, squash or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medication without first consulting your doctor. Consult with your doctor if the symptom doesn’t improve.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your physician.

PREGNANCY

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women only if needed as there are no adequate and well-controlled studies. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as small traces may pass through the mother’s milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Dizziness has been reported during treatment with BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET and may affect the ability to drive and use machines. Consult your physician before taking BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET.

KIDNEY

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET if you are allergic to Cefuroxime, Clavulanate any other cephalosporin antibiotic such as cefadroxil or cephalexin, penicillin or any of the other ingredients of this medicin

OTHERS

Before taking BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have:

  • sensitivity to penicillin
  • colitis

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 3 months of age as the safety and efficacy of BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET have not been established in this group. Consult your physician for advice before taking it.

Use in Geriatrics:

BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET should be taken with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

Inform your physician if you are taking any of the following drugs before taking BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET:

  • antacids such as sodium bicarbonate and aluminium hydroxide (used to treat stomach problems)
  • probenecid (used to treat gout)
  • oral contraceptives (combined oral estrogen/progesterone)
  • potent diuretics (Ex. chlorothiazide, indapamide)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdosage of BENCEF CV 375MG TABLET may include cerebral irritation leading to convulsions.
