AZRO 500MG TABLET contains Azithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Macrolide antibiotics. It is used to treat mild to moderate susceptible infections caused by bacteria and other micro-organisms which includes chest, throat, nasal infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat and sinusitis.
It is also used to treat ear infections and skin & soft tissue infections (such as an abscess/boil) in affected individuals which is also indicated for use to treat sexually transmitted diseases such as cervicitis (caused by organisms such as Chlamydia trachomatis/ Neisseria gonorrhoea) in affected individuals.
AZRO 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to azithromycin, other antibiotics such as erythromycin/clarithromycin (macrolides), and ketolides. It is also not recommended for use in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.
Before taking AZRO 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, myasthenia gravis (condition marked by weak muscles), heart problems, and/or kidney problems.
AZRO 500MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. It is also advised to be used with caution in breast-feeding woman as it is unknown whether the medicine gets excreted in the breast milk.
AZRO 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children weighing less than 45 kgs which is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking AZRO 500MG TABLET are stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence, dizziness, headache, and/or skin rash. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
AZRO 500MG TABLET works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to growth) that results in its destruction thus preventing its growth and spread of infection in affected individuals.
Tablet:
Take AZRO 500MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking AZRO 500MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Try to eat high-fiber foods such as vegetables, cereals, fresh fruit, and drink plenty of water. Involve in regular exercise (going for a daily walk or run) and if this does not help, consult and inform your doctor for receiving alternate treatments for constipation.
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.
If AZRO 500MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking AZRO 500MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
Try to take AZRO 500MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if symptom gets worse.

Do not take AZRO 500MG TABLET if you are allergic to azithromycin, other antibiotics such as erythromycin/clarithromycin (macrolides), ketolides, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
AZRO 500MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with heart problems such as prolongation of QT interval, Torsades de pointes, and other proarrhythmic conditions. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
