AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET contains Azithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Macrolide antibiotics. It is used in paediatric patients to treat mild-to-moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.
It is also used to treat uncomplicated skin and soft tissues infections which is also indicated for use to treat genital infections such as urethritis and cervicitis (caused by Chlamydia trachomatis) in affected children.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, and/or other macrolide/ketolide antibiotics. It is also not recommended for use in children suffering from cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction, and/or severe liver disease.
Before administering AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if the child has kidney, and/or heart problems.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women since it is used only in children and adolescents (aged 6 months to 18 years). It is also not recommended for use in elderly patients.
The most common side effects of administering AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET in child are diarrhoea, stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, rash, headache, and/or altered taste sensation. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms becomes worse in the child.
It is used in paediatric patients:
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to growth) that results in its destruction thus preventing its growth and spread of infection in affected individuals.
Tablet:
Take AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Dispersible Tablet:
Take AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Disperse AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop administering AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately in case the child experiences:
Ask the child to drink lots of fluids such as water or fruit juices so that the child is sufficiently hydrated. Do not administer any medicine to treat the condition. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Ask the child to take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Headaches usually go away after first week of administration of AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or becomes severe, then inform your doctor.
Have the child take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Let the child stick to simple meals and avoid having rich or spicy food.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it is used only in children.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is used only in children.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET is unlikely to affect ability to drive or operate machines.
AZIBEST DT 100MG TABLET should be administered with caution in children with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.
