ATELOL D TABLET is a combination of Atenolol and Indapamide which belongs to the group of medicines called Beta blockers and Thiazide diuretics. It is used to treat high blood pressure in adult patients and reduces the risk of heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. It is a common condition in which the force of the blood is consistently high against the walls of the arteries, which can increase the risk of heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke.
Before taking ATELOL D TABLET, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, kidney or liver problems, heart problems, thyroid problems, asthma, or gout. Take ATELOL D TABLET with or without food, and include potassium-rich foods in your diet (bananas, dried fruits) to balance the loss of potassium levels due to this medicine.
Before taking ATELOL D TABLET, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are elderly and over 65 years of age, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea, tiredness, drowsiness, and a low pulse rate.
ATELOL D TABLET helps to reduce high blood pressure, where atenolol works by reducing the force of contraction of the heart muscles by blocking the effects of certain hormones called adrenaline and making the heart beat more easily, thus lowering the blood pressure, and indapamide exerts its diuretic effect by decreasing the extra fluid volume and also works by preventing reabsorption of sodium in the kidneys, which in turn relaxes the blood vessels and makes the blood flow more easily in the passage of the blood vessels and thus lowers the blood pressure.
Always take this medicine as directed by your doctor. Take this medicine with or without food, swallow the medicine as a whole and do not crush or chew the medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own, without informing your doctor.
Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids such as water, electrolytes (ORS) or fruit juices to avoid dehydration in your body.
Nausea:
Try to take this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat oil-rich or spicy food.
Tiredness:
Try taking a balanced diet and drinking a good amount of fluids. Do minimal regular physical exercises which may help to reduce tiredness and get enough quality sleep.
ATELOL D TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor for advice before taking ATELOL D TABLET.
ATELOL D TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.
ATELOL D TABLET may cause side effects such as dizziness or tiredness due to low blood pressure, so use caution while driving or operating heavy machinery.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with ATELOL D TABLET.
