INTRODUCTION

APRESOL contains Dihydralazine which belongs to a class of medicines known as vasodilators and antihypertensive agents. It is used to treat high blood pressure. Hypertension is defined as transitory (short-lived) or chronic elevation of the blood pressure in the arteries which may lead to cardiovascular damage.

Dihydralazine sulfate relaxes the vascular smooth muscle by exerting a peripheral vasodilating effect and lowers blood pressure. It works by altering cellular calcium metabolism, interferes with the calcium movements within the vascular smooth muscle that are responsible for initiating or maintaining the contractile state. It also maintains or increases renal and cerebral blood flow.

Always take this APRESOL as instructed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is not suitable for use in children. The common side effects of this medicine are abnormal or increased heartbeat, headache, nausea or vomiting.
