ANTIFLU 12MG contains Oseltamivir which belongs to the group of medicines called neuraminidase inhibitors. It is used in the treatment of influenza infection (flu) in adults, adolescents, children and infants (including full-term newborns). Influenza, also known as flu, is a common viral infection which often includes signs such as sudden fever, cough, runny or stuffy nose, headaches, muscle aches and extreme tiredness. Although, these symptoms can be caused by other infections, a true influenza infection occurs only during the annual outbreaks, where the flu viruses spread rapidly in the local community.
ANTIFLU 12MG can also be used in the prevention of influenza infection in adults, adolescents, children and infants (full-term newborns or newborns aged above 1 year), when they have been contacted with an infected person or under exceptional circumstances (such as uncontrollable global epidemic of flu).
Oseltamivir works by preventing the spread of flu virus inside the body and eases the symptoms of flu virus infection. ANTIFLU 12MG is not a vaccine. It only treats and prevents flu infection. This medicine can be taken with or without meals. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, weight and health condition.
Patients (especially children and adolescents) taking ANTIFLU 12MG should be closely monitored for any behavioural changes such as abnormal behavior, delusions, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety, or nightmares and should report doctor immediately in case of fatal outcomes. Other common side effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, stomach upset and headache. These side effects are usually temporary and will resolve as the treatment continues.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a weak immune system or heart or kidney problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must tell your doctor, so that your doctor can decide whether this medicine is right for you or not.
