What is AMLODAC L Tablet used for?

AMLODAC L Tablet is used in the treatment of:

  • Mild to moderate hypertension (high blood pressure);
  • Hypertension not responding to monotherapy (single drug therapy) with either calcium channel blocker or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACE-inhibitor).

AMLODAC L Tablet may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does AMLODAC L Tablet work?

  • Amlodipine Besylate belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine Besylate prevents the calcium from moving into the blood vessel wall thereby preventing tightening of blood vessel walls. This reduces the blood pressure and improves symptoms of chest pain.
  • Lisinopril belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-inhibitors). Lisinopril acts by suppressing the renin-angiotensin system (physiological system in our body which regulates blood pressure). Lisinopril widens and relaxes the blood vessel walls and reduces the blood pressure.

AMLODAC L Tablet act additively and relaxes the blood vessel wall which improves the blood flow, thereby reducing the blood pressure.

How to take AMLODAC L Tablet?

  • The dosage of oral tablets of AMLODAC L Tablet depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take AMLODAC L Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
  • You must swallow the tablet with water. Do not chew the tablet.
  • AMLODAC L Tablet can be taken before, during or after a meal.
  • Take your daily dose at same time.
  • Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
  • If you miss a dose of AMLODAC L Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
  • Amlodipine + Lisinopril is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.
  • If you have taken an overdose of AMLODAC L Tablet, please contact your doctor immediately. The only symptom of overdose of Amlodipine + Lisinopril is hypotension (low blood pressure).

Most common side effects of AMLODAC L Tablet. are:

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

  • Flushing
  • Diarrhoea or constipation

Please stop your tablets and contact your physician immediately if you have

  • angioneurotic oedema (red, burning, itching areas on skin near eyes, lips, hands, feet and inside of throat, hoarseness of voice, difficulty in breathing);
  • increase in serum creatinine levels, increase BUN (blood urea nitrogen) or increase in serum potassium.

  • you are allergic to AMLODAC L Tablet or to any ingredients of this medicine.
  • you are taking any other drugs, OTC medications, herbal products or nutritional supplements.
  • you are on low salt diet and are using potassium supplements.
  • you have high levels of potassium in your blood.
  • you have a previous history of angioedema.
  • you have narrowing of aorta (aortic stenosis) or heart valve (mitral stenosis).
  • you have had myocardial infarction with heart failure.
  • you have any pre-existing heart disease.
  • you have liver or kidney disease.
  • you have diabetes.
  • you are under dialysis.
  • you are planning a surgery or any procedure.
