AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET contains Amlodipine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It is used to treat hypertension and certain type of angina (chest pain) called as Prinzmetal or variant angina.
Hypertension (also known as high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the arteries remains very high, and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying vital organs, such as heart, kidney or brain. If left untreated, it may cause serious complications such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke or even blindness.
Angina is a type of chest pain caused due to decreased blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscles. It is characterized by a sharp chest pain originating from the heart and radiating until left shoulder along with severe chest tightness or heaviness, and difficulty in breathing.
Take AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET, as it could lead to unpredictable increase in the blood pressure lowering effects of AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET.
Before taking AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any liver problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have severe uncontrollable increase in blood pressure or recently had heart attack.
AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with other severe heart problems such as narrowing of heart valves or cardiogenic shock. It is also not suitable for use in patients with severe hypotension (low blood pressure).
Consult your doctor before taking AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of taking AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET are swelling of ankles or other body parts, headache, dizziness, sleepiness, tiredness, racing heartbeat, indigestion, constipation and muscle cramps. AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET is a vasodilator. It works by blocking the entry of certain ions (calcium ions) within the blood vessels that causes narrowing. As a result, it relaxes the blood vessels and allows blood to flow more smoothly across the blood vessels with less pressure.
In patients with angina, AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET acts by improving the blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscles. This reduces the strain on the heart and improves heart functions.
Take AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results.
Stop taking AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea and vomiting:
Take AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.
AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET should be used in pregnant women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
AMLOBACT 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk to the nursing infant. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
