ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS is a combination of Ketorolac and Ofloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to treat and prevent eye inflammation and infection. It helps in reducing eye pain, redness, itching and burning/stinging sensation following eye surgery (such as cataract surgery or corneal refractive surgery). It is typically used in eye conditions which involves the risk of both eye inflammation and infection such as during injury or post-surgery.
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS is for ophthalmic use only. Gently instil few drops of the medicine into the affected eyes. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Before using ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have severe viral or fungal ear/eye infections. You must also inform your doctor if you have any eye defects, dry eyes, diabetes, stomach ulcers, joint pain or low blood potassium or magnesium levels as a precaution.
Do not use ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of using ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS are temporary burning sensation and blurring of vision, mild eye itching, redness and irritation, dry eyes, headache and blurred vision. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS contains two medicines namely, Ketorolac and Ofloxacin. Ketorolac is a pain-relieving medication. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes inflammation, redness and swelling. When applied topically on the eyes, it reduces eye redness, soreness, pain, itching and swelling.
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. When applied topically on the eyes, it kills the susceptible bacteria that causes eye infection. Collectively, this medicine reduces eye inflammation and pain and prevents the risk of eye infections.
Use ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull your lower eyelid. Instil few drops of this medicine into the eyes and close your eyes for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Wash your hands before and after application. Leave a time gap of 5 minutes before applying other medicines on your eyes. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids, areas around your eyes, ears or fingers, to avoid contamination.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.
Stop using ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Burning or stinging of eyes:
Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to ease the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops or television. Wear protective eyeglasses while going outdoors.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Blurred vision:
Close your eyes and relax. Do not strain your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, or television. Avoid driving or operating any heavy tools or machines while your vision is blur. Consult your doctor if you experience blurred vision for a prolonged period.
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machinery if you experience blurred vision or light-headedness after using ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS.
Do not use ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Ketorolac, Ofloxacin or to any other quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin).
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients who previously developed asthma symptoms while taking an analgesic medicine. Kindly, inform your doctor before using it.
ALGIC PLUS EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with heart problems such as prolonged QT interval, slow heartbeat, heart failure or history of heart attack. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
