INTRODUCTION

ALBUREL 5% contain Human albumin which belongs to a group of medicine called plasma substitutes and plasma protein fractions. This medicine restores and maintain the circulating blood volume when there is a low blood volume.

ALBUREL 5% works by replacing the blood or body fluid lost due to excessive bleeding, surgery, or kidney dialysis. This medicine can be given directly into a vein by doctor or nurse. Your doctor will decide the dose and frequency depending on your condition. Your doctor will monitor your blood pressure and ask you to get regular blood test done while you are using this medicine. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ALBUREL 5%

RARE

  • flush
  • nettle rash (urticaria)
  • fever
  • nausea

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Fever:

Drink plenty of fluids and water. Avoid taking cold baths or showers.

Feeling sick(nausea):

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

PREGNANCY

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking.

BREASTFEEDING

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

ALBUREL 5% has no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

ALCOHOL

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with ALBUREL 5%.

KIDNEY

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take ALBUREL 5% if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Human albumin or any other ingredients in this medicine.

LUNGS

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in patients suffering from active lung diseases (pulmonary oedema). Consult your doctor for advice.

HEART DISEASE

ALBUREL 5% should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,

  • high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • enlarged veins in the gullet (oesophageal varices)
  • tendency to abnormal or spontaneous bleeding (haemorrhagic diathesis)
  • reduced red blood cells (severe anaemia)
  • decreased or absent urine production (renal and post-renal anuria)
