INTRODUCTION

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is a combination of Empagliflozin and Linagliptin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used to manage type II diabetes mellitus among adult patients when diet, exercise and management with other conventional medicines does not result in adequate sugar control. It is used as an adjunct therapy along with proper diet and exercise to achieve better results.         

AJADUO 25MG TABLET can also be used in the management of heart complications among patients having both diabetes and heart problems. Follow proper hygiene and regular foot care as instructed by your doctor while taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET. Regularly monitor your blood glucose levels as instructed by your doctor.

Before taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you are severely dehydrated due to excessive vomiting or diarrhea recently as a precaution.  

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with Type I diabetes. It is also not suitable for use in patients with alcoholism and in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Consult your doctor before taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET are vaginal infection, sore throat or nose, cough, passing more urine than normal, thirst and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.

USES OF AJADUO 25MG TABLET

It is used to manage:

  • type II diabetes mellitus in adults along with proper diet and exercise
  • heart problems among patients having both diabetes and heart problems

HOW AJADUO 25MG TABLET WORKS

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is an antidiabetic medicine. It contains two medicines namely Empagliflozin and Linagliptin. Empagliflozin eliminates the excess sugars from the body via urine. Whereas linagliptin makes the pancreas to secrete more insulin (a hormone that digests glucose in the body). Collectively, these actions controls blood sugar levels and improve glycemic control in patients with type II diabetes.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take AJADUO 25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. AJADUO 25MG TABLET can be taken with or without meals.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET unless your doctor advice you to stop.

SIDE EFFECTS OF AJADUO 25MG TABLET

COMMON

  • vaginal infection (such as vaginal thrush)
  • sore throat or nose, cough
  • passing more urine than normal
  • increased urge to pass urine
  • skin rash or itching
  • increased amylase/lipase levels in blood
  • thirst
  • constipation

UNCOMMON

  • pain or strain while passing urine
  • changes in blood fat levels
  • increase in the amount of red blood cells
  • kidney problems

RARE

  • sore mouth

Stop taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of severe decrease in blood sugar levels (such as increased sweating, feeling shaky, anxiety, blurred vision, increased hunger, headache, mood changes or confusion)
  • serious allergic reaction (such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
  • severe skin rashes with redness and blistering of the skin
  • inflammation of the pancreas causing severe persistent stomach pain which radiates towards your back along with nausea and vomiting
  • signs of diabetic ketoacidosis (such as nausea, vomiting, sudden weight loss, stomach pain, excessive thirst, fast and deep breathing, confusion, unusual sleepiness or tiredness, a sweet smell to your breath, metallic taste, smelly urine or sweat)
  • infection of kidneys or urinary tract with fever (such as burning sensation while passing urine, mid-back pain or pelvic pain, cloudy urine, urge to pee)
  • signs of Fournier’s gangrene (such as pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling of the genitals or the area between the genitals and/or anus combined with fever or general weakness)
  • signs of dehydration (such as excessive thirst, dizziness upon standing, fainting)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Constipation

Taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET with meals may reduce the chances of constipation. However, if you experience constipation, eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
Consult your doctor

It is not known whether the use of AJADUO 25MG TABLET could affect the unborn baby. Therefore, it should not be used during pregnancy unless recommended by your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
Consult your doctor

It is not known whether the use of AJADUO 25MG TABLET could pass through the breast milk. Therefore, it should not be used in breastfeeding unless considered necessary by the physician.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with Caution

AJADUO 25MG TABLET has no influence on your ability to drive or handle heavy tools or machines. However, do not drive or operate any machines if your ability is affected by AJADUO 25MG TABLET.

ALCOHOL
Consult your doctor

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET as it may increase the risk of unwanted side effects.

KIDNEY
Use with Caution

AJADUO 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in in patients with serious kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

LIVER
Contraindicated

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated

Do not take AJADUO 25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Empagliflozin or Linagliptin.

USE IN PEDIATRICS
Contraindicated

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is not generally recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution

AJADUO 25MG TABLET should be used with caution among the elderly patients (aged 75 years or above). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

OTHERS

AJADUO 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • have type I diabetes mellitus
  • have diabetic ketoacidosis (buildup of ketones in the body)
  • are an alcoholic

Before taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • are on fasting
  • suddenly increase or decrease the dose of insulin
  • have or previously had any problems in pancreas
  • have dehydration or at risk of becoming dehydrated (such as due to excessive vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or if you are not able to eat or drink)
  • have high RBC in blood

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking AJADUO 25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:

  • other medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. glimepiride, glyburide, gliclazide, rosiglitazone, pioglitazone, insulin)
  • medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
  • diuretics (used to reduce edema and to manage hypertension) Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide
  • lithium (a medicine used to manage mental illness)
  • rifampicin (a medicine used to manage tuberculosis)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took more AJADUO 25MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
