What is ADIFF Gel used for?

ADIFF Gel gel is used on the face, chest or back for treatment of mild to moderate acne, where there are blackheads, spots and pimples.

ADIFF Gel may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does ADIFF Gel work?

  • ADIFF Gel is a retinoid-like compound which
    • penetrates deep inside the skin pores and prevents the build-up of dead skin and sebum that leads to acne formation;
    • blocks the hardening processes of the outer skin layer which helps in shedding of old hardened skin cells, thereby promoting growth of new skin cells;
    • blocks the inflammatory reaction, which help to reduce soreness and irritation of skin.

How to use ADIFF Gel?

  • The application of topical gel of ADIFF Gel depends on medical condition of an individual. Apply ADIFF Gel gel as prescribed by your doctor.
  • ADIFF Gel gel is for EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
  • Apply ADIFF Gel at night before going to bed. Wash the area to be applied with water thoroughly. Make sure the skin is clean and dry before applying the medicine.
  • Take a thin film of ADIFF Gel gel on your fingertip and apply on the affected area gently.
  • Wash your hands properly after applying ADIFF Gel gel.
  • Avoid application of ADIFF Gel into eyes or lips.
  • Do not apply ADIFF Gel on cuts, abrasion or eczematous skin.
  • ADIFF Gel is not to be used in adolescent and children below 12 years of age.
  • Do not discontinue ADIFF Gel without doctor’s advice.
  • If you miss a dose of ADIFF Gel gel, please apply it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you have used more ADIFF Gel gel than advised by your doctor or have accidentally swallowed ADIFF Gel gel, please contact your doctor immediately.

Symptoms of excess use of ADIFF Gel on skin are:

  • Skin irritation
  • Redness of skin
  • Peeling of skin
  • Discomfort on skin

What are the drugs that interact with ADIFF Gel?

Drugs that interact with ADIFF Gel:

  • Aromatic and Alcoholic agents
  • Astringents
  • Peeling agents
  • Skin abrasive cleaners
  • Skin drying agents

What are the side effects of ADIFF Gel?

Most common side effects of ADIFF Gel are:

  • Dry skin
  • Irritation of the skin
  • Burning sensation of the skin
  • Redness of the skin (erythema)

Please stop application of ADIFF Gel gel and contact your physician immediately if you have

  • irritant contact dermatitis (blistering, cracking skin, swelling, stiffness of skin, ulcers on skin, sore skin forming crust);
  • skin discomfort, pain and swelling of skin;
  • sunburn;
  • itching of the skin;
  • peeling skin;
  • irritation, redness, itching or swelling of the eyelids;
  • flare up of acne.

What special precautions should be followed while taking ADIFF Gel?

  • Seek doctor’s advice before taking any other drug or herbal products while on ADIFF Gel.
  • If you are using other medications for acne like benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin or clindamycin, they may be applied in the morning and ADIFF Gel may be applied at night time.
  • If you have a hypersensitivity skin reaction, please stop using ADIFF Gel gel immediately.
  • If you have applied ADIFF Gel gel by mistake into eyes, mouth, nostrils or mucous membrane, wash immediately with warm water.
  • ADIFF Gel has propylene glycol (E1520) as excipient which may cause skin irritation and parahydroxybezoate (E218), which may cause allergic reactions.

You are advised not to take ADIFF Gel if

  • it has passed the expiry date of the medicine printed on the pack.
  • the foil or packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering or there is discolouration.
  • you have severe form of acne

What should you tell your doctor before taking ADIFF Gel?

Tell your doctor if

  • you are allergic to ADIFF Gel or to any ingredients of this medicine.
  • you are taking any other drugs, OTC medications, herbal products or nutritional supplements.
  • you are planning a surgery or any procedure.
  • you are pregnant or trying to conceive or are breastfeeding.

What should you do when you have used more ADIFF Gel?

If you have used more ADIFF Gel gel than advised by your doctor or have accidentally swallowed ADIFF Gel gel, please contact your doctor immediately.
