INTRODUCTION

ACIPAN 80MG contains Pantoprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. It is used in the treatment and maintenance of symptoms associated with Gastro-OesophagealReflux Disease (GERD) such as heartburn, acid regurgitation and pain or swallowing in adults. It can also be used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison-Syndrome and other conditions where, too much acid was produced in the stomach in adults.

Pantoprazole decreases stomach acid production by inhibiting the proton pump (H+ K+ ATPase). Along with this treatment, your doctor might recommend you, to take enough rest and drink plenty of fluids. Sticking to simple meals and avoiding rich or spicy food can also be beneficial. Avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol during this therapy, as it may reduce the chances of healing and worsen the ulcers.

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician, because long-term use of pantoprazole may reduce your blood magnesium levels, affect liver function or increase the risk of bone fracture. To avoid this, regular monitoring of bone functions, liver enzymes and blood magnesium levels are required during the course of treatment. This medicine must be taken 1 hour before meals. The most common side effects of this medicine are vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. Contact your doctor if any of these symptoms bothers you. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

HOW ACIPAN 80MG WORKS
