Netilmicin is a powerful antibiotic. It binds to the susceptible bacteria and stops protein synthesis in the bacterial cell which is essential for its survival. Unlike other antibiotics, it can also remain unaffected by the toxic proteins produced by the bacteria. Therefore, it destroys the susceptible bacteria and prevents it from further growth and multiplication which reduces the severity of the infection.
